Recently had to have compressor relay changed--not a DIY job. Fridge/freezer were empty and off, doors open for two days. I removed the ice bin during this time to empty it and let everything dry out. Once the tech finished replacing the relay. I put everything back together. Freezer forms ice and dumps to bin. BUT--since repair--when I "ask" it to dispense ice, the motor runs, but it sounds as if the bin rotor hangs up on ice and it just bumps around--as if the teeth on the augur hang up on something and then ride up over it. Ice blades spin freely and independently in bin. When I spin from the bottom, sometimes they hang up.

How to check and change auger motor driveshaft? Thanks
For model number WRSA71CIHZ00
PartSelect logo
Hi Elizabeth, thank you for reaching out. To check the auger motor drive shaft, you may need to see the edges of the shaft. If the edges of the drive shaft got stripped, you may need to replace the drive shaft. To replace the shaft, follow the instructions: 1) Push the button on the side of the ice bucket to release the latch and lift the bucket. 2) Un-thread the screws using the quarter-inch socket to remove the holder. 3) Use the pliers to pull out the auger motor drive shaft. For reinstallation of the new auger motor drive shaft, follow the instructions backward. We hope this information helps!

Hi Peter, thank you for reaching out. If you have just installed a new ice maker, please allow 24 hours before it starts to make ice. The arm should be in the up position until it cycles. The ice maker has an automatic shutoff to keep the storage bin from overfilling during normal operation. As ice is made, the ice cubes will fill the ice storage bin, and the ice cubes will raise the shutoff arm to the off or up position. When the storage bin is at full capacity, the ice maker will automatically stop ice production, but the ice maker on and off switch will remain in the on or up position. Try and press the on and off switch and then lower the arm manually to see if this helps. If this is not helping, then we would recommend checking the switch, part number PS12728638. We hope this helps, good luck with the repair!

Lights inside refrigerator not working
I used a flat-head screwdriver to pop out the old light rocker switch. Then, I unplugged the wires, plugged them into the new light rocker switch, and then popped the new switch into the hole. That's it! Lights began working again.

Light Would Not Go On In The Refrigerator
First I removed the old lightbulb from the socket and replaced it with a new one to confirm that the bulb was not the problem. I then pryed the socket out with a flat-head screwdriver. I could tell that the socket was anchored in its hole with clips so it was relatively easy to pry it out. Once the socket was out, I disconnected the lead wires and ordered a replacement socket kit from Partselect. When the new one arrived, I reconnected the lead wires to it, snapped it back into its hole, screwed in a new lightbulb, and presto!! The light was back on with no further problem. Thank you, Partselect!! A $15.00 part saved me what probably would have been at least a $100. service call and heaven knows what the technician would have told me I needed!!!

Light Switch broke
An easy job for smaller hands. Removed the two bolts holding the light cover. Removed two electrical connections from the old switch by pinching the retaining clip, removed the switch, snapped in the new one and re-attached the connectors. Your online illustrations helped me to know that the plastic housing for the light switch would only swing down so far and was not intended to be removed. Saved me from breaking that plastic cover's tabs. This home repair saved me more than 5 times the cost of hiring a professional to do it. Very happy homeowner.
