For a long time, oven would not completely turn off, except on rare occasions. It was able to turn off, though, it just usually wouldn't. It would be on warm constantly. Now it won't heat up hot enough - i set it to 350 and it takes forever to get to 250 or 300.

Hi LOri,
Thank you for contacting us. If the oven is not heating correctly, the issue may be with the oven thermostat. The oven control thermostat controls the bake and broil elements. It is a temperature-controlled switch and as such will have contacts that supply power to these elements. A malfunctioning thermostat can cause your oven to produce too little, too much or no heat at all. Before removing this part from the oven and testing it with a multimeter for continuity, unplug the oven from the electrical outlet. To test the oven thermostat, you will need to reference your owner’s manual to determine what the correct reading should be for your model, as this varies from model to model. Set your multimeter to the Rx1 setting and touch the terminals with the probes. The reading you should receive varies between models, refer to your owner’s manual to determine how much resistance a functioning thermostat should have for your model. Additionally, refer to your wiring diagram to determine which set of contacts you should be testing. If the results of your tests are different than the manufacturer recommendations, you will need a replacement oven control thermostat. If the oven thermostat is fine, you will need to check both the bake and broil elements, the touchpad and electronic control board and the wiring between the parts to see which one is causing the issue. We hope this helps! If you have any questions, please let us know.
Turned off the power at the breaker box, cut the wires approximately 5 inches from the bad receptacle and removed it after removing one screw. Stripped back the wires about 1/2 inch and attached the new wires with the ceramic wire nuts provided and secured the receptacle back in place with the new screw provided in the kit. My sister's husband wanted to scrap the whole range but I repaired it with $14.00 worth of parts. The element is working great now. Whenever I need appliance parts again I'll use partselect.com.
