When i cook items in my microwave i get a grease odor in my house. It is with anything i cook in the microwave. I have cleaned the two stainless filters in the bottom of the microwave and put a filter in the top of the microwave. This microwave is vented under the house and out the back wall of the house. Is there any other thing i need to do to get rid of this grease smell.

Hi Jeffrey,
Thank you for your question. To remove the grease odor from your microwave, it is important to clean the microwave each time you have used it. Once you have finished heating your food, leave the door open for awhile to air out. To remove the odors, you can also try placing a solution of vinegar and water or sliced lemons and water in the microwave to see if this helps. Turn the microwave on for a few minutes to allow the solution to steam and leave the door closed for at least 15 minutes after the microwave has shut off. If there are any stains inside the microwave, make paste of baking soda and water and use a toothbrush or a damp cloth to gently remove them. If you have any questions, please let us know. We are open 7 days a week. We look forward to hearing from you!

Hi, recently we came to the realization that our 1993 model microwave from whirlpool is no longer working or heating food, as intended. Any remedies you have in mind, or might this require us to purchase a whole new unit? The financial electrical functions such as the fan are still working as normal.

Hello Bridget, Thank you for the question. We suggest testing the magnetron. The magnetron can be tested with an multi meter set on the highest scale. Across the terminals, you should read 0 ohms (or .5 ohms). Test both terminals to ground with one lead and make sure it is not shorted. If you need help placing an order, customer service is open 7 days a week. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!

The nightmare was that this microwave is installed under the cabinet....in order to get to the light bulb I had to pull out my stove then squeeze into the space between the stove and counter....my old microwave light bult was much easier to change.....Shame on Whirlpool for making this so difficult.....must be a better way to cover the light bulb so that we do not need a screwdriver to remove the door to get to the light bulb
Remove top grille (2 screws), undo control panel (1 screw). Tilt down control panel, switches are on the left. There are actually three switches that are involved with the door, two horizontally mounted, one vertically mounted. This would be an EASY REPAIR, but it took me a while to figure out which of the three switches was bad, and also took a while to figure out that there is a plastic rod that inserts through the hole in the switch body. Once i figured this out went like a breeze. Lower horizontal switch was the bad one, but since the kit came with two switches i went ahead and replaced the upper horizontal one as well. IT appears that the horizontal switches are probably more likely to fail than the vertical switch based on the position of the switch and force angles. Works great now!
