There is a loud off and on rattling coming from the back of the refrigerator. We have placed a warm hairdryer behind the freezer drawers to melt any frozen water on the fan and this has helped in the past, but did not help at all the last two times and we ran the hairdryer for 1 1/2 hours and then left the unit off for another hour. How do we get to that fan to replace it? We cannot figure out how to get the freezer drawers out to access the back panel of the freezer. Are there one or two evaporator fans on this model? Could it be the condenser fan? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated as this noise is maddening! Thank you!! Tracie
For model number MFT2672AEM10
Hello Tracie, Thank you for your inquiry. There is only one evaporator fan motor on this model. The fan at the lower back of the refrigerator is actually the condenser fan and there is a video under the part number on how to access and install it. There should be bolts on the freezer drawer brackets that may need to be removed and you may also need to remove the freezer door in order to lift up and take the drawers out. We have included a link from another model to give you some assistance in removing the drawers. Good luck with your repair.
I used a flat-head screwdriver to pop out the old light rocker switch. Then, I unplugged the wires, plugged them into the new light rocker switch, and then popped the new switch into the hole. That's it! Lights began working again.
Purchased new motor from Partselect.com. When it arrived it came with a new rubber washer that fitted on top of new motor that was not on old motor, that how water got into old motor. However, the instruction sheet did not give info on how to access the proper way to the motor that is the door. Not wanting to damage the freezer door assy. called in a tech who made it look easy, but even he had a little problem locating access panel that was directly under the motor in the freezer side of the door. After that it was a piece of cake.
I used a flat screwdriver and released the lock tab on the bottom of the light switch, and pried the switch out, being careful to not damage the plastic around the mounting place of the switch, unplugged wiring from old switch, plugged in the new one and pushed the new switch into place. Job finished light switch now working.
