why does the freezer get a lot of ice in it and won't freeze, and the bottom of the fridge won't keep things cold enough
For model number LTCS20020S
PartSelect logo
Hello Linda, thank you for getting in touch. A common reason for a freezer accumulating excessive ice and not freezing, while the fridge struggles to maintain temperature, is a faulty defrost system. We would recommend checking the defrost heater, part number PS12748995, to solve the problem. We hope this helps!

My freezer keeps freezing up and my frig doesn't feel like it's holding temp. I defrost the freezer n did a reset and I still a hear a clunk noise in the freezer part and the frig part still doesn't feel cold enough
For model number Ltc20020s

Hello Lisa, thank you for the question. Open your freezer door and press the door switch to keep the light on while the fan spins. If the noise gets significantly louder, the fan blades are striking the ice. Completely defrost the freezer, checking for bent or cracked fan blades. If the noise is still there after defrosting the unit, you will need to replace the evaporator fan motor, part number PS16746406. Also, check the freezer door gasket, part number PS11708160. If the gasket is worn out it will let warm air into the freezer causing ice buildup, which then blocks the air going into the refrigerator. We hope this is what you were looking for!
