My dishwasher will not turn on

Hi Michelle, thank you for getting in touch. A grinding metallic sound is mostly caused by hard debris caught inside the pump or chopper assembly. We would suggest checking the circulation pump, part number PS12579574. Over time, internal seals leak water into the motor shaft bearings. The rusted bearings then emit a loud, continuous metallic drone or screech during the wash cycle. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. We hope this solves your problem!

Timer flashes sometimes when I start cycle and have to reclose door. Then it starts cycle but will stop after about an hour or more. If I don’t notice it, I have to start again. May finish cycle but most of time happens again. Getting worse and can rarely get it to even start lately.

Replacing this pump is pretty easy. Disconnect the power and drain hose, and pull your dishwasher out from the counter. Lay it on its side on a towel. There WILL be spillage. After removing the pump, I disassembled it to find out why these fail so soon. It's a very poor design. I found that the nose of the electric motor, where the bearings are located, sits in a plastic cup formed by the top of the pump body. Any leakage from the pump around the motor shaft will be held in place against the motor bearing. It has no place to go. This causes rusting of the bearing. I expect I'll be replacing this one in a few years. :(
But kudos to PartsSelect for getting the right pump assembly for me, after getting the wrong one from another supplier!

Second roller in on the left side was missing don't ask my how, pulling the bottom rack out the rack would dip down i had to lift it up to pull it the rest of the way out.
