Please help me to figure out how to replace the on off switches or valve kit on the Profile Gas's Stovetop drop in
I don't see how the unit separates. Underneath is sold galvanized piece. I don't have any screws to loosen to help me.
The model is 28 years old
Do you have the parts and a video I can watch ?
Thank You
For model number JGP328WEC2WW
Hello David, thank you for your inquiry. We do not have any videos available, but here are some instructions that will help you separate the unit to replace the switches or the valve kit, part number PS12582582:
1. Unplug the power cord and shut off the gas supply.
2. Carefully lift off all grates and remove all burner caps and the burner bases. Remove all of the control knobs; you can use string or wire to help pull them off of the valve stems.
3. Now use a t20 torx bit to unthread all of the screws securing the officeholders to the main top.
4. With the screws unthreaded, lift off the top.
5. Lift the seal off of the valve stem and detach the spark switch. Use a 1/2-inch wrench to unthread the nut securing the gas supply tubing to the valve.
6. Now use a 7-millimeter socket or nut driver to unthread the screw to release the valve bracket from the manifold.
7. Now detach the old gas valve and install the new gas valve by positioning it on the supply tubing and manifold. Align the valve bracket and secure it with the screw.
We hope this sorts out your problem!

I removed the old igniter by working a thin screwdriver under the edge of the igniter, and carefully prying it up. I then used pliers to pull off the electrical wire. Connected up the new igniter, and pushed it back into the hole. A very simple repair.
I've replaced 2 igniters on this stove. My symptoms were that when I tried to light one of the bad burners I heard clicking, and could see the spark on the other (working) burners. So I knew the basic sparking function was working. Just that the igniter on the broken burner would not spark.
A rubber grate foot on my range top had worn out. I pulled the worn foot out and installed the new grate foot with no tools or accessories. Good as new! Now I don't have to worry about the grate scraping my range top and scratching the paint. I also ordered extras so I won't have to wait if another wears out.
