I am getting black marks on clothing that is near the bottom of the basket, up against the tub after the spin cycle. I have cleaned the washer using vinegar and bleach, but it is still happening. Not sure what is causing this.

The cold water valve will not open during a normal cycle when "Cold" is selected at the temperature selector. The cold water valve will energize during a rinse cycle, though. I have replaced the temperature selector switch. What is my next step?

Hi Vince, Thank you for your question. If the cold water valve will not open during the normal cycle. the issue may be with the lid switch assembly. The lid switch on a top load washing machine is a safety device designed to prevent the motor circuit from operating when the lid is open. On some models, the water inlet valve circuit is also controlled by the lid switch. If the lid switch fails on these models, power cannot be supplied to the water inlet valve. If you have determined that the water inlet valve on your washer is not receiving power, then you should check the lid switch. Before removing and testing the lid switch from the washer, please unplug the washer from the electrical outlet. Once you have located it, verify that the actuators or levers are not sticking or damaged and that the switch is being operated mechanically. If no issues are found above, remove the switch in order to test it for continuity and set your multimeter to Rx1. While pressing in on the switch’s button, touch the terminals with the probes. You should receive a reading of zero or nearly zero. If you receive a different reading, you will need a replacement lid switch. If the lid switch is fine, you will need to check the water inlet valve and the timer. We hope this helps! If you have any questions, please let us know.

washing machine would not go through all cycles or agitate
After removing frt panel which prys off I checked for anything obvious like a loose belt. Then I jiggled the magnet switch located on the inside of the loading cover. I saw the machine start agitating the it stopped again when I stopped touching it. I ordered the new part and spliced it in with the wire crip tool. Now the machine is A ok.
