HOW DO YOU REPLACE A BROKEN HANDLE? WHAT TOOLS NEEDED?
For model number GMH5205XVS1
Hi Greg, thank you for reaching out. Please follow the given instructions to replace the door handle: Before you begin any repair, please unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet. You will need to remove the plastic lining around the inside of the door. There are retainer clips holding the liner in place, and you will need to use a putty knife to remove them. Depending on the type of microwave you have, you may have to come in from the bottom or from the top to remove the lining. Gently slide the putty knife in between the lining and the frame, go around the frame, and gently pry it loose. On the hinge side, you will need to come in from the backside to pry the lining off. Once the door lining has been removed, you should see two screws securing the handle. Unthread them to remove the old handle and install the new one. Reinstall the door lining and restore power to the microwave. We hope this helps!

The nightmare was that this microwave is installed under the cabinet....in order to get to the light bulb I had to pull out my stove then squeeze into the space between the stove and counter....my old microwave light bult was much easier to change.....Shame on Whirlpool for making this so difficult.....must be a better way to cover the light bulb so that we do not need a screwdriver to remove the door to get to the light bulb
