Dryer powers up ok and the front control panel operates properly. Drum spins but does NOT heat. Took panels off and checked the heating element ohmed ok; checked the two safety thermostats on the heater assembly ok; checked the thermistor on the back of the blower housing ok. Checked everything I could find located in the bottom of the unit. How can I check the main ckt board located above the drum to see if this is the culprit? What am I missing to get this fixed and drying clothes again. Thanks.

Hi Steve, thank you for reaching out. We have found that the issue is with the main control board, part number PS16742871. You may check the main control board if has any burn marks or areas that are shorted out. You may also use a multimeter to test for continuity between the various connections on the control board. If there is no continuity, then there is a problem with the control board, and it will need to be replaced. You can also test whether the correct voltage is being supplied using your multimeter. We hope this solves your problem!

Hi Morris, thank you for reaching out. Reset the unit by unplugging it for 5 mins. If this does not help, we would recommend checking the user interface control board, part number PS16873782. Good luck with the repair!

Hello James, thank you for your question. To reset a GE dryer, locate the reset button on the appliance. If there is no reset button, unplug the appliance directly from its power source and allow it to sit for ten minutes without power. Once the time has passed and the motor has cooled, plug it back in to see if issues have been resolved. It the board is damaged, then you will to replace part PS16554671. Loud banging/thumping noise when dryer was running. Bearings on tub rollers worn out. Poor design.
Could tell from the sound it was making that it was related to drum rotation. Searched online videos on how to disassemble this model GE Dryer. The Dryer drum rides on 4 rollers. 2 of the 4 of mine were very noticeably loose and made a similar noise when I spun them by hand. Simply replace the rollers and re-assembled.

I could type out instructions, but it's much simpler to just search for the right video online.
