I'm reversing the door on this freezer/fridge (fkch17f7hwc) from right hand opening to left hand opening. I understand how to do it. It's pretty straight forward. Until i come to the lower hinge. (Frigidaire part# 297283900). This is a 90 deg bent piece of metal with a post on the right side. Everything tells me all i have to do is remove the post and insert it into the available hole on the left side of the piece of metal then re screw this assembly into the like holes on the left side of the bottom of the refrigerator. The problem is the post will not come out and believe me i've tried everything. Can you help? Is the post suppose to come? Do they stock left and right hinge assemblies?

Hi Bruce, thank you for your question. The way to remove the pin is to use a socket wrench. Place it over that pin and then unscrew it from the bracket of the hinge. Then you will be able to switch the pin over to the other hole along with the washer. Good luck with your repair.

Have used this freezer /fridge convertible as a freezer for many years. It has always kept things nice and frozen. Now it just keeps things cold, but not frozen.

Hello Nancy, Thank you for the question. We suggest checking the Door Gasket. Is there is wear or damage it will allow warm air in and it will effect the temperatures. We also suggest checking the Defrost Thermostat. The best way to do this is to remove the thermostat from the refrigerator so you can control the temperature of the sensor. You can let the sensor warm up to room temperature. With the sensor warmed up to room temperature the sensor should read approximately 6.2K Ohms at 68°F. With the thermistor submerged is a glass full of ice water, the sensor should be very close to 32°F which should read approximately 16.3K Ohms. If the values that you are getting are far off from these readings, then the sensor is bad and should be replaced. You can also check to make sure there are no air gaps in the rubber gasket on the door allowing warm air in. Make sure the fan motors are running and circulating air as well. Hope this helps!

Hello Ryanne, thank you for your question. When you are having temperature problems in your fridge, there are a few parts that could cause the issue. You can use a multi meter to test most of the parts. Make sure you cut power to your appliance before doing any repairs or tests. First you should test your defrost thermostat, part number: PS1525674. Place the thermostat in ice cold water for 2-3 minutes after removing it from your appliance. It should be reading 0 ohms to be working correctly. Another part to check would be your defrost heater, part number: PS426768. Remove it from the appliance. It should be reading anywhere between 0 - 50 ohms to be working. These are the most common parts that cause this issue in your appliance. So, it is suggested you check them first. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Hello Paul, thank you for your inquiry. According to our research, we would recommend checking the water supply line or level of the fridge. If this is not the issue, you may need to replace the defrost drain hose, part number PS12364945, to fix the issue. Glad to be of help!

Ice and frost were forming in a frost free freezer
The old gasket was obviously gapping, partially from age and partially from damage during a move. To make the repair, I loosened the screws that are under the gasket and hold it in, but did not remove them. Once all were loose, I removed the old gasket, then starting at the top, ran a thin bead of food grade RTV under the portion of the door that captures the gasket. I put the sealant on that edge only, then carefully worked one of the short edges of the gasket under the plastic and tightened all but the corner screws. I then ran the RTV down the inside of the hinge side of the door and repeated the process, this time tightening the top screw and the hinge side screw at the top, but leaving the bottom most screw loose. I repeated the process on the opening side of the door. The bottom was the hardest because the gasket seemed just a little long and it was hard to get the RTV up and behind the door portion, but after a couple tried I got a good bead of sealant then slid the gasket under the door capture and tightened all the remaining screws. After closing the door, it was obvious that there were places were it did not seal well. I used some cardboard strips, cut from the box the gasket came in, to place inside the freezer, between the hard plastic of the door and the inside of the gasket where it laps over the screws. This helped a lot, but there were still a couple small areas, so I used more cardboard, from the outside, between the main portion of the gasket and the rim of the gasket. This eliminated all the gaps. I let this sit overnight and this morning removed all the cardboard for a great sealing freezer.

The Crisper Drawer Glass Shelf slid out of the frame while being cleaned and shattered.
The repair didn't require any tools at all. Just simply slide the new glass shelf carefully into the the frame and while holding it horizontally slide the frame back into the rails. This took less than a minute to accomplish. Very satisfied with the results.
