This window unit works on heat and ac seemingly normal but the fan never shuts off even when unit is shut off on the panel and digital is dark. I replaced the Control and Display Board but it apparently was not the issue. Problem originally happened after an electrical storm. Right after that storm there was a burnt smell that has since dissolved. Currently the only way to shut fan off is by unplugging or tripping the reset on the plug. Is there possibly a fan relay that burned up or something else perhaps ? Thanks,

Hi Butch, thank you for the question. Based on our understanding of the issue, we would suggest you first make sure there is no bad wiring in the unit. A wiring issue or a short circuit may be preventing the system from recognizing the on and off signals. There may also be a faulty relay switch prohibiting the settings on the thermostat from being communicated to the fan. If that is not causing the issue, then you may need to check the capacitor, part number PS3496399. Its top should be flat. If it looks swollen, the issue is with the capacitor, and you may need to replace it. We hope this helps!

Replaced control board, as recommended, same symptoms except now heat won't stay on starts out blowing warm air then goes cold, and won't shut off

Hello Jay, thank you for reaching out. As replacing the control board did not help, therefore we suggest that you check the thermistor, ambient temperature sensor, evaporator temperature sensor, and compressor, as these could be the culprits of your air conditioner not turning off and why the temperature settings are not working. It is also a good idea to ensure that the air filter is not clogged and that there is no restriction in airflow. We hope this sorts out your problem. Good luck with your repair!
