The unit stopped cooling completely, neither side gets cold at all. Happened overnight.Any ideas?

Hi Stan, thank you for your question. When you are having temperature problems in your fridge, there are a few parts that could cause the issue. You can use a multi meter to test most of the parts. Make sure you cut power to your appliance before doing any repairs or tests. First you should test your defrost thermostat. Place the thermostat in ice cold water for 2-3 minutes after removing it from your appliance. It should be reading 0 ohms to be working correctly. Another part to check would be your defrost heater. Remove it from the appliance. It should be reading anywhere between 0 - 50 ohms to be working. You could check your temperature sensor. To find the correct reading for this part you will have to refer to your tech sheet that comes with your appliance. You can usually find this tech sheet behind the bottom grille of your fridge on either the right or left side. These are the most common parts that cause this issue in your appliance. So it is suggested you check them first. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

We have researched the model you have provided and we would recommend checking the following parts to fix your issue: the temperature control thermostat, the evaporator fan motor, the condenser fan motor, the run capacitor, the start relay, the defrost thermostat, the defrost heater, and the defrost control board. You can test the parts with a multimeter. If you are unfamiliar with how a multimeter functions, we have videos available to assist you. Check the board for any loose connections or visible damage. Cooling fan doesn't run but refrigerator light stay on what piece needs replacing?

Hello Belvyn and thank you for writing.
Sounds like you have 2 separate issues.
One sounds like you might need to replace the capacitor PS11757023 to get the fan running again. Two a stuck or faulty light switch PS11738900
I searched the model number for my Whirlpool refrigerator on the internet and partselect.com came up so I clicked on it. The site asked for my model number which I typed in and there it was...a picture of my refrigerator in full detail and very well diagramed and labeled. I found the number of the parts I needed, added them to my cart and paid. In a few days (2 I think which is an awsome delivery time) the parts were iin my front door step, very well packaged and in imaculate condition. I took them out of the box and installed them in less than 15 minutes. A parts internet order and repair has NEVER gone as quick and easy as this did. Thanks to the pictorial diagram, I was able to order correct parts. It was just a matter of removal of broken parts and replacing them. Ice maker now working and air is no longer getting into freezer which was freezing up ice maker. Thanks for timely delivery, now I am able to use ice dispenser, which I haven't used for long time. Thanks
