A weak battery, blown fuse, loose wire, or poor connection can cause the same problem. Use the full generator model and type number to guarantee the proper fit. Turn off the generator, let it cool, disconnect all loads, and remove the negative battery cable before service.

Starter is not engaging but sounds like it's turning

Hello Bruce, thank you for getting in touch. Check the starter motor, part number PS12421651. Remove the starter motor and inspect the gear assembly. Clean it thoroughly with a parts or brake cleaner. If the gear teeth or the internal clutch mechanism are worn or damaged, the entire starter drive assembly or the starter motor will need to be replaced. We hope this helps.
