My lawnmower will run as long as I spray starting fluid into the carburetor, but refuses to run when the gas shut-off valve is turned on, so it should be getting gas to operate but it seems like it's not getting the gas to start up and run, would this be an issue with the idol screw on the outer side of the carburetor needing to be adjusted or an issue with the float as to why it's refusing to start ?

Hello James, thank you for reaching out. If your mower runs only on starting fluid, it is definitely a fuel delivery issue, but the idle screw is likely not the culprit. The float needle may be causing the issue by being stuck in the "up" or closed position within the seat. This prevents any fuel from entering the carburetor bowl from the gas tank, effectively starving the engine of fuel even when your shut-off valve is open. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. The needle valve and seat assembly for your model is part number PS8963322. We hope this helps!

Sorry I miss spoke, I didn't mean idol screw, I meant kit-needle,seat; is the problem the float or the kit-needle,seat as to why my lawnmower isn't wanting to start/run when the gas is turned on, but will start and run after I have sprayed starting fluid into the carburetor

Hi James, thank you for getting in touch. The problem is likely a clogged jet or fuel passage within the carburetor, rather than a failure of just the float or the needle and seat. If your mower starts with fluid but dies once that fluid is consumed, it means the engine has spark and compression but isn't pulling fuel from the carburetor bowl. We would suggest replacing the carburetor overhaul kit, part number PS8984098. We hope this solves your problem!
