I was able to take artisan mixer apart and replace grease as it leaking out. Now I'm unable to get the pin back into the shaft. The shaft is a couple of millimeters shy of where it should be and I can't see the hole where the pin would go. I've taken the unit apart several times to be sure everything was in place but nothing seems to work. Obviously the hole was lined up before so not sure what to do. The shaft doesn't move easily up and down. Any ideas or guidance would be appreciated. Thank you

Hi Susan, thank you for asking question. To reinstall the shaft, put the washer on the top and make the pinhole to be at the bottom of the shaft. Put the shaft from the underside and slide it upward. Now put the second washer on the top of the shaft. Lower the shaft just a little, and put the gear in the shaft by sliding it. It may be a bit resistive, but simply take a rubber mallet and give it a few taps. Once the shaft reached out, the shaft pin hole will reveal. Take the little tiny pin and just slide it into the hole. Notice two little cutouts on the gear, slide down the shaft into that cutout. Now the shaft is secured into place. We hope this helps.

The center shaft on my artisan KitchenAid mixer is moving up and down about 1/8inch. I took the mixer apart and cannot seem to figure out why this is happening. I have 2 of these mixers and my other one does not do this. It is causing the attachments to screech against the mixer bowl. What part do you suggest i replace? The center shaft? The whole planetary?
