Is there a test to differentiate between a bad control board vs. timer switch? The symptoms are that the washer stops (turns off) during the wash cycle. It will restart, then stops again. The first symptom was that is would stop before the spin cycle, but it has gotten worse. I can finish a load by repeatedly restarting it. Thank you for your help.

Hello Duane, Thanks for your question. Yes, the timer can be tested via a multimeter to see if the parts have electrical continuity while the control board can be tested via an ohmmeter. Replace them if they show no continuity. The control board is a more likely problem for your symptom. You may also want to run a diagnostic mode and unplug the machine to see if that fixes your issue. I hope this helps.

Hi, I was wondering if you could help me. During transport our washing machine was tipped over to the side and hit the ground with no visible damage. Once the washer was re-installed and ran the timer seems somewhat out of sequence but does run through the cycles. The door lock light never comes on indicating the door is locked which seems to affect the spin cycle. Would a new timer correct this issue? Thanks! Tom

Hello Tom, Thank you for the question. If the door lock light does not come on and the door is not locking, I suggest checking to see if the wiring on the door lock may have come loose. You can also test the door lock with a multi meter and check for continuity. This sounds like more of a lock issue if the timer works in the rest of the cycles,. Hope this helps!
