Ice builds up on inside bottom of upright freezer.
For model number MQF1656TEW02
Hi Lonnie. I would check to make sure the defrost drain isn't frozen. If so you can try to manually defrost your freezer. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.

I am looking at this model freezer, but it is described as "self defrosting".
Is that the same as "frostfree"?
For model number MQF1656TEW02
Hello Donna, thank you for a very interesting question. We have found that self-defrosting and frost-free are two distinct categories of frost-fighting features. Self-defrosting freezers have a self-cleaning function that works automatically. This process heats up the coils inside your freezer to prevent them from frosting over. However, if a freezer claims to be a frost-free freezer, that means it has an automatic fan designed to remove warm air from the freezer, preventing moisture from accumulating and freezing on the freezer walls. The fan circulates cold air inside the freezer's interior, preventing any frost buildup. Frost-free freezers do not have to be manually defrosted. We hope this information is useful!

My freezer suddenly stopped freezing.
For model number MQF1656TEW02
Hello Thuy, Thank you for the question. This might be an indication there is an issue with the defrost system. You can try to reset the Defrost Timer to see if that triggers the defrost cycle to process and go back to freezing. You can also test the Defrost Thermostat. The best way to do this is to remove the thermostat from the refrigerator so you can control the temperature of the sensor. You can let the sensor warm up to room temperature. With the sensor warmed up to room temperature the sensor should read approximately 6.2K Ohms at 68°F. With the thermistor submerged is a glass full of ice water, the sensor should be very close to 32°F which should read approximately 16.3K Ohms. If the values that you are getting are far off from these readings, then the sensor is bad and should be replaced. If the Thermostat is good, you can test the Defrost Heater. You should get an approximate reading of 10 to 150 ohms. If you need help placing an order, customer service is open 7 days a week. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!
I used a flat-head screwdriver to pop out the old light rocker switch. Then, I unplugged the wires, plugged them into the new light rocker switch, and then popped the new switch into the hole. That's it! Lights began working again.
First I removed the old lightbulb from the socket and replaced it with a new one to confirm that the bulb was not the problem. I then pryed the socket out with a flat-head screwdriver. I could tell that the socket was anchored in its hole with clips so it was relatively easy to pry it out. Once the socket was out, I disconnected the lead wires and ordered a replacement socket kit from Partselect. When the new one arrived, I reconnected the lead wires to it, snapped it back into its hole, screwed in a new lightbulb, and presto!! The light was back on with no further problem. Thank you, Partselect!! A $15.00 part saved me what probably would have been at least a $100. service call and heaven knows what the technician would have told me I needed!!!
An easy job for smaller hands. Removed the two bolts holding the light cover. Removed two electrical connections from the old switch by pinching the retaining clip, removed the switch, snapped in the new one and re-attached the connectors. Your online illustrations helped me to know that the plastic housing for the light switch would only swing down so far and was not intended to be removed. Saved me from breaking that plastic cover's tabs. This home repair saved me more than 5 times the cost of hiring a professional to do it. Very happy homeowner.
