Frozen Water collects in bottom of the freezer. Once the bottom is full of ice/water, water leaks from the bottom of the freezer door and on to the floor.
For model number FRS6LF7JW0
Hello Charles, thank you for reaching out. Ice will form at the bottom of the freezer compartment if the door is not properly closed and the cool air in the freezer is able to combine with the warm and humid air outside. To avoid the formation of ice, please ensure that cool air circulates in all compartments of your freezer. If the doors do not close properly, make sure that the door seal on the edge of the door is attached properly. A clogged or frozen drain hole or drain tube may be the cause of the water leak. Clear the drain hole and drain tube to allow water to exit the freezer when in defrost mode. If this does not help, it means the drain tube that takes water from the unit to the evaporator drip tray is frozen. We would recommend defrosting the unit and pouring a bit of hot water down the drain tube to see if you can free up any ice in the tube. If there is no ice built up in the drain tube and the water is still leaking into the freezer, it might have something to do with the defrost parts that keep the unit frost-free. You will need to replace the defrost heater, part number PS2581596. We hope this information helps.
In my specific appliance the water valve is located in the bottom right hand corner looking at it from the back. To get to it I remove the thin layer of cardboard the covers the back of the fridge. I then proceeded to disconnect the 1/4" copper tubing which is the water feed coming out of the wall. Then I removed the screws that hold the valve assembly in place. I took the water valve out and removed the electrical connections as well as the plastic tubing which feed the water dispenser and the ice maker. To install the new water valve it was just a matter of reversing steps.
