Microwave blow house breaker when trying to turn on
For model number FGMV175QFA
Hi John, check to make sure its not on an overloaded or faulty circuit, otherwise it could be a multitude of parts overdrawing power. You would need a technician to take a look to make sure. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair!
Microwave is running and sometimes when we open the door the breaker trips. I checked the switches and they seem fine. Continuity is good. There are two thermal switches. The one on the left has continuity bur the one on the right does not. Would this do it. It’s a vent hood thermal fuse. I looked this up and i don’t think this should have continuity when tested. Something to do an open thermal fuse or a closed one. If the thermal fuse is supposed to have continuity, ( it doesn’t) would this trip the breaker? It’s not blowing the main fuse. Dave

Hello Dave and thank you for writing.
It certainly sounds like it could be a faulty line fuse PS5136235, you should check for signs of damage, and replace if necessary. Also, consider this (does not happen often but it does): The breaker in your panel box might be defective. Plug your unit into a separate circuit (breaker) and see if it still trips the other breaker, this way you know for sure. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime.

Hello Larry and thanks for writing.
It certainly sounds like a door latch issue PS2582995 you should check for signs of damage, and replace it if needed. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime.
Remove vent cover then remove touch screen control panel. When you remove control panel take photo of where everything is plugged in then unplug and remove control panel. 3 door switches located next to door in a plastic chassis. Test each switch with current tester. Remove the bad switch and replace with the new one. You tube DIY helped.
First thing I dir was search YouTube for any related videos and found this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHj4H9Fdxrc, it was the exact problem my microwave was exhibiting. Once I verified the problem by troubleshooting, I removed the part and verified that the switches were working fine, the door latch assembly showed signs of wear which was the cause of the problem. After receiving the replacement part I installed it, verified that power was restored to the unit and reassembled the microwave, works fine, hope it lasts a long time!
