Knob and timer worn/broken where engaging.
Removed clip from old knob with needle nose pliers and removed knob. Pulled indicator dial off of the timer shaft. Removed three screws with nut driver from top of back panel and opened control panel.
One screw holds the timer mechanism in place. Unplugged wiring harness from timer and removed screw. Removed timer. There are tabs that the timer sits in. Make sure you have reinstalled the timer correctly in place.
Installed new timer and replaced screw. Closed control panel and replaced the three screws in back panel.
Slid indicator guide down over timer shaft making sure to line up the tab on dial with notch in nylon shaft. Slide know over metal shaft and replace the clip which holds the knob in place. Operate washer according to instructions. In the future be sure to turn your knob slowly when setting the wash cycle. Turning it too quickly can wear out or break the parts once more.

start switch failed
I removed the three screws that hold the front switch cover to the backing plate. I then slid the front cover to the right and pulled it out and forward. I marked all the wires and removed them. Now the front cover is free. starting from the left i removed the knobs and the switches. The switches have a tab on them and they twist out of their socket. The front cover plate was also broken so I replaced it. In the new front cover plate I installed the switches starting from the right. When I got to the start switch I installed a new switch and knob.I then installed the rest of the knobs. then I installed the wires and put the tabs in their place and slid the cover plate to the left and installed the three screws.I then tested it and it worked great .

Bad rotary switch and backsplash
Shut off the Electric at the breaker panel. With a Philips head screw driver took off the metal plate, and slide the backsplash out of its holders. Twisted the three switches, twisting to the left to remove them and replace the back splash, controller, timer switch and installed the new rotary switch with a right twist. There are three wires on the rotary switch, just follow the line of the old switch. Replaced the back metal panel, and turn on the breaker. Replacement takes about 30 minutes along with putting the dryer back in place.

unit would not agitate or spin
I checked the motor,it was bad I was pulling to 20 amps too much. The washer was still not working and the motor was bad so I checked the lid switch for continuity. The switch was a magnet type so with the lid down you should have continuity. In other words, a closed circuit. When the lid is opened, you should have a open circuit, Which would show no continuity. An open circuit means a break in the circuit. To change hinge bushings, raise lid, remove the screws on the outside of the lid, remove hinge, remove lid, insert new hinge bushings, place hinge through lid into bushings, and then put the screws back into the lid. If you followed these steps you should be done.

knob was loose so pulled it off and the metal insert is broken. What is that called and how do I order the metal part
PartSelect logo
Hi Kathryn, based on your description it sounds like you need to replace the metal clip inside the knob. With that said you need to order a replacement control knob WE01X20378, and it will come with the metal clip. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

I need to order the knob and the clip, does this come with the clip... is it installed or do I need to install it myself
PartSelect logo
Hi Trevor, according to the manufacturer this is a knob and clip assembly, and the clip is already inside the knob. I hope this helps.

I need to replace the dryer knob as there is a crack in the white plastic d-shaped part that holds the d-shaped metal clip. The know just spins around now and won't actually turn the dryer on. The picture you show of the replacement knob doesn't appear to include the outer plastic ring (the part that has the arrow that shows what setting it's pointed to). I was able to snap that ring off the old knob. Do i just use the old outer ring or do i need to buy that as well? I see you have 2 different part numbers showing for my dryer. I don't understand what the difference is between them: We01x20378 (control knob and clip) and we01x20374 (timer knob). What's the difference between the two parts? Thanks!
For model number GTDP180ED0WW
PartSelect logo
Hello Denise, thank you for your question. The correct timer knob, that has the indicator line on it to show what setting its pointed to, is part number WE01X20374. This is the replacement timer knob and clip that would replace the broken knob on your appliance. I hope this helps!

This model has four control knobs on it. P/n 7 & 41, 19 & 41. Does the latter go on three of them?
For model number DHDSR46EG6WW
PartSelect logo
Hello Julius, thank you for inquiring. Number seven on the diagram is the Timer Knob part PS1482197 that you would require only one of. Number nineteen is the Control Knob and Clip part PS9493075 that you would require three of. Number forty one is the D-Shaped Knob Insert Clip part PS267091. They are included when you purchase the Control Knob and Clip part PS9493075, but must be purchased separate for the Timer Knob part PS1482197. We hope this helps.

My knob was slipping so I ordered a new one a while ago but now the motor is not spinning but the tub is filling with water
PartSelect logo
Hello Jill, we recommend checking that your lid switch is in good condition. A faulty lid switch is the most common cause of your symptoms. If the lid switch is working, you should next check that the motor is receiving power. If the motor is getting the power but not turning then you have a faulty motor. Best of luck with this repair.

On my dryer panel the start and fabric care knobs and the stem they are attached to are off. Is their a part for me to repair dryer with.
For model number DHDSR46EG2WW
PartSelect logo
Hi Bettie, Thank you for your question. If your knobs have broken, this would be the part that you would need to replace. If it is the metal that the knobs slip on to, you would have to replace the switches behind the knobs. Good luck with your repair.

Both the start knob and the temperature knob are broken! Would you tell me the part # for both ? I will replace the switch too while I have it apart. On the temperature knob they is nothing to connect the knob to, so I'm assuming the switch is broke on this. Thanks
For model number DBSR463EGWW

Hi Becky, Thank you for the question. The knobs show to be the same knob on this model number, Part Number: PS9493075. The temperature switch is Part Number: PS267990 and will need to be replaced if there is no shaft for the knob. Hope this helps!
