I glued the broken striker hook and try closing it but it wont start and make a noise. By using a new striker will it be ok
For model number ATF6000FS1
Hi Raymond, Thank you for the question. If the striker is broken I would recommend having it replaced. Glue will not be able to hold it securely. Hope this helps!

My front load washer door will not stay shut. The catch does not appear to be broken but could possibly be worn. Would this cause the door not to catch
For model number 41741122410
Hi Bill, Thank you for your question. It is possible that the catch is worn, but the problem could also be either the door strike or the door hinge. You will need to inspect the parts to see which one is causing the issue. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

My washer has power it will latch but all it does is hum and every now and then it clicks like it's powering to something but won't do anything could that possibly be the door latch
For model number Ftf2140fs1
Hi Greg, Thank you for your question. There are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the door lock and switch assembly, the door strike, the control board with housing, the drain pump and the motor control board. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

I forgot to tell you that this all happened after the building shut off the water for two days during the day and back on in the evenings, to change a section of the main pipe. My washer was working fine before that. Last time the water was shut off in the building no one was notified and i ran my washer not knowing that there was no water to the appliance. My washer broke and it was the door lock. This time, many units including mine, had debris in their fixtures etc. The plumbers came back and bleed the lines and cleaned out the screens from several fixtures. They also did that to my washing machine line, but that did not fix anything. Why is it always defaulting immediacy to no spin??? occasionally it will give a tiny bit of water, but mostly it wont do anything but them nothing else. it will not actually start other than to except provide the panel lights and clicking sounds. it will not drain, it will not fill, it will not spin. and it always defaults, within 15 seconds to no spin. hello sari, thank you for the question. i suggest testing the door lock and switch assembly, partselect number ps12364048 with a multi meter for continuity. your washer will not start if the door does not lock and if defective it will think the door in unlocked. hope this helps!
For model number Frigidaire LTF2140FS1
Hello Sari, thank you for your question. If the water was turned off and other tenants had plumbers come and clean out the screens there is probably an accumulation of dirt and debris in the water valve. That is why the unit won't start. There is no water to the unit. We would recommend replacing the water valve as you're not getting any water and after 15 seconds of trying to fill it will automatically go to no spin then stop. We would recommend replacing the valve, which is PartSelect Number: PS2330891. I hope this helps!

Can running the machine with no water available to the unit cause the unit to break, specifically the door latch?
For model number LTF2140FS1
Hello Ssari, Thank you for the question. I have not heard of it affecting the door latch but it can burn the water valve out and cause a short damaging other electrical parts within the appliance. Hope this helps!

Broken Door Catch
This was one of the simpliest repairs I have ever done taking less than 5 minutes to complete. On the inner door I removed the two screws that hold the plastic catch in place. I then removed the broken catch and put the new catch in place. Finally I replaced the two screws that hold the catch in place and it was done.

Striker broke while closing door due to misalignment from sloppy hinge.
Disassembled the door panel(7screws).Replaced the outer door panel keeping the existing hinge bushings in proper alignment (requires two people because of the weight of the glass door bubble). You could remove the entire door by removing the metal hinge, however, these screws would not come out for me. Replaced the striker by removing two screws.

Defrost heater stopped working. Refrigerator side not cooling. Freezer side working fine.
Removed inside panel in freezer compartment. Used blow dryer to melt collected ice on evaporator coil. Removed clips on bottom of defrost heater. Replaced with new defrost heater, re-attaching the clips. Replaced defrost Thermostat with new one. Re-attached inside panel. Now unit works just fine. Really easy job. Defrosting the collected ice took the longest to do.

washing machine front loader door would not close, making the machine useless
I removed the broken door catch, which consisted of removing two screws, making it a snap to do, all you needed was a screw driver, and replaced it with the new one using the same screws, This took about 5 mins. to do and was very simple. Turning the machine into a working washer again. : )
After looking all over for the part, and not finding it I was thrilled when you carried the part. Even though the machine is old, it works great. Thank you for the selection of all the parts you carry and how you make it so easy for us to find what we need. , and having it in stock, which was mailed right away, so I could replace the catch and have the washer back in use in less than a week. Thank you

replace door striker
The striker is really easy to replace. Remove 2 #3 phillips screws, replace the striker part, and tighten the screws.

It got more complicated when too many striker tips broke off inside the latch assembly and prevented the tip of the new striker from going inside. To get at the latch assembly, I had to remove the big rubber gasket that connects the drum to the frame of the machine. I removed this at the drum end. Big mistake! It took two of us to get the gasket back onto the drum, and I had to take the frame end of the gasket off anyway. That end is a lot easier to put back on. Anyway, I finally got to the latch assembly, which attaches to the machine with two screws. It has 3 connectors and the housing is a grey plastic clamshell that latches in 3 places. It came apart and parts came out. Jamming the latches open and very gently prying the clamshell open may let you escape the small parts barrage. Once I got everything back together, it all worked.

Unfortunately, the story doesn't end there. This machine has broken 4 strikers. They break during the wash cycle. Taking a cue from a previous DIY description on this site, I took the hinge apart. It looks like there is a part missing, because there isn't anything that keeps the door aligned with the rest of the machine. The door drops down as low as it can go on the hinge pin and the plastic of the door frame rides directly on the arm of the hinge part. I've shimmed it up about 3/16" temporarily, and it seems to work, but I can't escape the idea that I shouldn't have to do this...

Door Striker broke off
Replaced the old striker with the new one in about 5 minutes. Just needed a phillips screwdriver. Unbelievable how hard it was to find the part at local store...much easier to order from partselect. If I break it again, I will be all set. Part cost $7 vs repairman visit at a cost of at least $200 - - was worth the effort.

Dryer wouldn't go into high spin
this repair was easy, but it was repair #3.
#1: Fix-it guy said the front control board needed replaced. Ordered part from box store. Shoulda come here!
#2: Replaced motor control board. Harder to replace. Shoulda let the new front board run error code first. Again, used brand name supplier. Oops!
#3: Still not spinning. Error code "Door is open" but it's closed.
Remove door lock/switch assy, wires to the front board, and striker. 4 screws, 15 minutes. reached in through the top (did NOT unseat rubber around door).
Plugged wires into door lock. Inserted striker. Using multimeter on "Ohms" tested switch. No continuity=switch not closed.
New switch cost less, arrived faster. thank you Parts Select!

Door Strike broke off in door of machine
The washer door wouldn't shut. I saw the top piece of the plastic catch appeared to have a broken section. I looked online at the replacement part needed (this was the most difficult part of the process). I unscrewed the old piece and replaced it. No problems. I suspect that this is an engineered flaw with the machine to encourage more unit sales (it could be metal for instance). So fix it and feel clean!

Washer would not spin
Ran diagnostic and discovered that the panel did not recognize that the door was locked, thus no spin. I ordered both parts, although I didn't need the door strike/catch. I only needed the locking mechanism. I removed metal ring from around the rubber piece inside the door with needle nose pliers, and then I simply plugged in the new lock and screwed it in place. I put the ring back around the rubber piece, flipped the circuit back on and washed a load of clothes. Easy as pie! Teachers can do anything. Who needs a repair man? :)
