It started when we needed to replace the cracked inner glass pane of our KitchenAid KEBC107KSS03 wall oven door. We discovered that there are actually three layers of glass, and we had to be very specific as “inner” might mean the one closest to the heat and food inside the oven, or it might mean the “meat” in the sandwich of three panes. Terribly confusing. We got that figured out, and ordered the right part (PartSelect Number PS11742543, Manufacturer Part Number WP4449259, price $121.93). The glass arrived very quickly, and my husband had the door partially disassembled on the dining room table. He figured this was the perfect time to tighten the door handle which has wiggled since we bought it, along with the house, almost 18 years ago. With the very last quarter turn of the very last screw, he heard and felt a “crunch”, then the entire outer door glass shattered into a spider web of a thousand pieces. The noise and the cracking went on for what seemed like ages, as we watched in amazement. So, I went back online and searched the PartSelect site, where I learned that we had to replace the entire outer layer, as the window is integrated into the stainless steel of the door. I ordered the Exterior Door Glass – Stainless (PartSelect Number PS3495223, Manufacturer Part Number W10401225, price $520.06). By now, the dining room table was covered in door parts, and the “exploded door” diagram turned out to be much less helpful than one would think. We tried watching the recommended videos, but they only covered how to replace either the innermost glass, or the outermost glass, but not what to do after you have disassembled the whole thing. Fortunately, PartSelect has a phone-in line. Ryan was incredibly patient and very helpful. He found a list of parts that helped us match up the bits and pieces found on the “exploded door diagram”, and on our dining room table. He found another video that was a bit more detailed. He told us the exact moment in the video that showed a “real life exploded door”, and how all our parts went together. From there, it was a matter of minutes to get it back together again. Once it was installed, we noticed that now the handle was not centred. Who knew there was a right way round? With huge trepidation my husband took the door off again, laid it gently on the dining room table, took the front panel off, removed the handle, rotated it 180 degrees, and tightened it in place. Nothing exciting happened that time. The door was reinstalled, and the kitchen was open for business again.

The part was in great condition. Very easy to replace the broken glass with this part.

Oven door is great. Service was great as well. Delivery was in 2 days, but delivered to my neighbor and left in his Garage! Very concerning, luckily my neighbor is a good man and brought it over to my house.
