Top of agitator didn't agitate. It was slipping.
Pried off the agitator cap. Removed the bolt. Removed the agitator. In the process of separating the agitator from the base, a plastic tab broke off which concerned me. BUT, in the directions with the part it explains that the 2 tabs are for factory assembly and to break both of them off. Broke off the second tab and reassembled. My 18 year old Kenmore is back in action.

Top part of agitator was not locking in and turning
Remove top "cap" on agitator to expose the bolt that holds the agitator to the drum shaft. Undo the bolt and pull out the agitator. Disassemble, toss the old parts and install the new parts in reverse order. Repair took less than 5 minutes and we can now do full loads of laundry again!

Top half of the agitator was not turning.
I just took the cap of the agitator off and the 3/8" nut was right there. I took it off with a socket, removed the top agitator, slid the assembled kit in , replaced the agitator and cap...that was it !!. These parts priced thrrough Sears were $77.00 plus S&H. Your price for the entire kit- less than $12.00 !! If you don't think that you can do this yourself, have your 7 year old child do it. Took me about 5 minutes. Great price and fast shipping. Thanks

Darn thing hadn't "Agitated" for about 10 years!
After removing the bolt (7/16" head), and using a pair of pliers to remove the 3-4 in deep "cup", it was immediately obvious how to assemble the new cup and pawls (ratchets).

Orienting the black "bearing" was not so obvious, but on closer inspection of the illustration, it became clear. The four "ears" of the bearing go closest to the pawls. The little tabs that are co-planar to the ears fit into the four grooves of the new cup.

And here's the trick (besides making REALLY, REALLY SURE how the pawls orient)--Soak the black bearing piece in hot water to soften it up, and let it slide over the cup better. If you don't, you risk breaking it. If you do, it slides over and "clicjs" into place, with the ears resting right against the bottom lip of the cup, capturing the pawls.

Installation back into the washer is obvious.

The thing works like a charm! It hasn't worked this well for a decade!

Tub off center. Upper agitator not driven.
Pop off the softener dispenser. Pull the cover/ seal out of the upper agitator. With 7/16" socket and extesion bar, remove bolt and pull upper agitator straight up and off. dump out old assembly and replace with new assembly. Set back in place and replace bolt. Repair kit comes with good instructions and new rubber O ring for bolt cover/ seal. (thanks).
The suspension spring takes more effort but not hard. with washer laying on face I used a piece of 2x4 to pick up the tub in the direction of the broken spring. Put the new spring through the wire hook loop and snake it through the slot in the frame and you can see how it locks in place. With the 2x4, push the tub toward the new spring until you can hook it through the slot on the tub frame. Done. Parts cost less than an estimate from a service call and I finished the job in 30 minutes, which includes unplugging the power cord, turning off the water and taking off the hoses so I could lay the washer down. Saved the website in my favorites for the same great prices and fast shipping next time.

Top half of agitator wasn't moving
First, I wrestled off the top cap of the agitator. Then, I unscrewed the bolt and took out the cam. I noticed that the agitator dogs were worn smooth. I replaced them, put it all back together and VOILA! I bought the whole agitator kit, not knowing what I was going to find, because I wasn't a Magtag repair woman. It ended up that the cam that came in the kit was too big for my washer anyway. Luckily, all I needed was 4 plastic dogs. The price of the whole kit was so inexpensive anyway, it was no big deal. Especially because, I was looking to buy a new washer or a big repair bill. This website is great! Thank you.

Teeth on the cogs and agitator were worn out
Very simple, pop the top open, unscrewed the bolt, and pulled the old agitator out. The new one went in just as easy.

With full load, clothes were not agitating correctly - very little action or movement of the upper agitator section.
Took off softener dispenser, pried off top of agitator, removed bolt from top of agitator.

Then pulled out the agitator assembly for easier access.

Used screwdriver to brake small plastic keepers holding secondary agitator ratchet clutch to the secondary agitator.

Assembled and inserted new ratchet mechanism in the top of the agitator, making sure 4 small square pegs protruding from the end of the new assembly fully entered into mating holes on the secondary agitator.

Placed the agitator back on the agitator post and installed and secured bolt. Replaced cap and installed softener dispenser.

I ordered this agitator repair kit for my Kenmore washer because from the options on your website, it seemed to be the part it needed. It was easy to install due to your video, thank you! However, it must not be the part that i needed, because my washer is still not running properly. It does not agitate, or spin. I put the load in and the washer fills with water, the lid stays locked the whole time, it goes through the cycles but i never hear any agitation or spinning noise. When i open it after it says it is done, the water has drained but the spin cycle didn't work, so the clothes are still wet and towards the bottom of the load the clothes are sopping wet. I can tell the machine didn't agitate either, because the clothes look like they just soaked in the water and didn't get clean. Can you please tell me what part would be a better choice? I really appreciate it!

Hello, thank you for inquiring! As your appliance is not agitating or spinning, we would recommend checking your drive motor and your gearcase, as they are what creates the movement of the tub. More than likely, one of these parts is faulty and will need to be replaced. The drive motor for your model is PS11747980, and the gearcase is PS12584225. We hope this helps!
