Dispenser Door Solenoid Kit WR62X107

Unplug the refrigerator
Front cover of ice dispenser snaps off. Remove the 4 screws from the ice chute. Unplug the control module that opens the ice chute. Leave hanging while removing the 4 screws that hold the solenoid in place.(one is a ground wire...note location before taking apart). Unplug the two wires to the solenoid.
To install the new solenoid put the plunger in place and at the same time hook on the trip arm of the clapper door of the ice chute. Plug in the two wires to the new solenoid
Replace the 4 screws.
Plug in the Control modules and screw back in place
Plug in the refrigerator. Do a trial test.
Replace the cover

First I removed the face plate by lightly prying . Once removed noticed 4 screws. Removing the screws allows you to gain access to the two plugs, one for the solenoid and the other for the switch that energizes the solenoid . Unplug the connectors and carefully lower the piece enough to reach the 3 screws that hold the solenoid in place. The 4th screw in the center at the bottom of the solenoid is the ground wire. If it is rusted like mine was just re-attatch it to one of the solenoids holding screw. It must be grounded!
Just re-assemble, just dont forget to replug the connectors. Also a little hint, If you open the freezer door a little you wont trigger the solenoid.

1. Unplug refrigerator or flip breaker to kill power to the refrigerator.
2. With hands, gently pull the bottom lip of the 3" X 11" face plate panel above the dispenser head.
3. Remove the 4 screws that are under the removed panel.
4. Tip the assemby down to reveal 2 plugs.
5. Gently pull the 2 plugs to disconnect.
6. Open the assembly to reveal the solenoid.
7. There are 3 screws at the base of the solenoid. The center screw attaches to the green ground wire.
8. Remove the three screws.
9. Observe: The bracket at the top of the solenoid unit tucks behind a 4th screw above the solenoid. You may need to loosen this screw to relesae the solenoid.
10.Unplug the yellow and red connector to the solenoid. It should not be totally free to remove.
11. Put the plunger into the solenoid. Note that the plunger has an opening to insert the white plastic trigger for the trap door. Make sure the trigger is inserted into this opening before reassembling.
12. Plug the yellow and red connector into the new solenoid.
13. Position the new solenoid to match the screw holes. The bracket at the top of the solenoid tucks under the 4th screw. Tighten as necessary.
14. Insert the green ground wire into the middle screw hole at the base of the solenoid and tighten.
15. Insert the two screws to either side of the ground wire and tighten.
16. Gently reconnect the two plugs.
17. Tip the assembly back into place making sure the trap door and hoses are lined up correctly.
18. Replace the 4 screws.
19. Snap the face plate back into place.
20. Turn on the power and give it a try!

I used other instructions provided by customers on the website. They were very useful.

This is the second time we replaced this unit. The first replacement failed within the one-year warranty period. I called customer service and they had a replacement part and refund for the previous part on its way immediately. Excellent service!

Unplugged the refrigerator. Removed the panel to the ice/water dispenser. Removed the cover that displays ice type/water and light. Removed the 4 screws holding the cover. Unplugged the wiring harness to the cover which allowed easy access to the two electrical connections to the solenoid.
Removed the three bottem screws holding the solenoid in place. Loosened the top screw ( do not remove completely) and the solenoid slide down. Removed the solenoid arm that hangs on door latch.
Install hang solenoid arm on door latch; slide solenoid up under top screw. Install bottom 3 screws to hold solenoid in place then tighten top screw. Reattach electrical lines to solenoid then plug wiring harness back into cover. Install 4 screws holding panel in place. Re-install two remaining covers.

I replaced the control board and the solenoid. This was very simple and easy to do. Make sure the power is disconneted before starting. I then removed the accuator pad and holder. Removed the face plate by simply pulling on it. I then removed the four screws holding the control board unit. I unplugged the unite by pulling the block connector on the left side. I then marked on paper the connections to the solenoid and unplugged it. I removed the three screws holding the solenoid the removed it. When installing the new solenoid make certain the rod to the dispenser is put into the solenoid plunger. Then replace the three screws and plug the wires back in using the connections written down on paper. I then removed the two philips screws on the control unit hold down bracket in order to remove the controll board. After removing the screws and the hold down bracket, I pulled the old board out and put the new one in. I then reinstalled the unit, faceplate, and accuator pad. I then turned the power back on and tested it. Worked like new, saving a lot of money...

I replaced the water solenoid kit,control board and a broken dispenser assembly crank.My repair went well, parts came on time,I watched an R&R video on youtube provided by PartSelect and finished the job in ten minutes. I am one happy do it yourself-er customer.

Followed previous description, when the face plate came off, parts appeared straight forward. I turned off the refringerator at the circuit breaker, so didn't have to move it.

1. Either unplug the refrigerator or shut the circuit breaker off for the outlet that it's plugged into. 2. Pull off the front panel (approx 3" x 8") 3. Remove the 4 philips head screws. 4. Pull the unit toward you and down to expose the solenoid. 5. Unplug the plug on the left side of the control board. 6. Write down the color of the two wires that are attached to the solenoid and remove them. 7. Remove the 3 screws on the bottom of the solenoide. The center screw will have a green ground wire attached to it. 8. There is also a screw at the top of the solenoid that you may have to loosen a bit to remove the solenoid. Be sure to remove the old plunger too. 9. Just reverse the process to install the new Solenoid. Turn the power back on and try it. This however did not fix my problem, I had to order the control board and install it. Then, everything worked fine. I ordered the Actuator Pad just to have it on hand. My refrigerator is 14 yrs. old.

I discovered that the ice gate on the ice dispencer stayed open all the time. I looked at your online blue prints and found the Ice gate solenoid and found that ours was bad and not working. I ordered the part and in a couple days was able to replace the old one with the new one. The refrigerator stopped running all the time and this will in the long run save on our power bill. This is the greatest way to save on repair cost because this repair would have cost $100.00 for a repair man to do the same work. Money that I would rather spend on something fun. Ice maker had to be removed from refrigerator, solenoid removed with four screws. Fairly easy repair and the part was delivered the day after it was ordered.. superfast repair.
