defrost drain tube freezing up and stopping circulating fan motor
shut down power- removed plastic covering in refrigerator -installed new part- This has been installed for about 1 week and as of today every thing is working fine. This problem would occur about every 1-2months. So I will not really know for sure until some time goes by

If the defrost thermostat goes out what are the problems that occur in the fridge? Right now the freezer is fine but our fridge is not very cold?

Hi Kyle, Thank you for your question. The defrost thermostat is a safety thermostat in series with the defrost heater and is used to terminate the defrost cycle when the evaporator reaches a specific temperature, usually rated at 38° to 47° Fahrenheit. The thermostat is normally mounted on the tubing of the evaporator and will be a closed circuit for temperatures below 15° Fahrenheit. If the thermostat is defective and remains open circuit, then the defrost heater will not be energized and no defrost will take place. You can check the thermostat for continuity with a multi-meter if you are satisfied that the temperature is below 15°Fahrenheit. Remove power from the appliance before performing this test. If the refrigerator section is too warm, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which ones are causing the issue. You will need to check the run capacitor, the defrost timer, the defrost thermostat, condenser fan motor, the evaporator fan motor, the dispenser door assembly or flapper and the relay PTCR-3wire. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Freezer and refrigerator work fine for about 2 weeks then starts defrosting. Unplug let set for a day then restart and works fine for another 2 weeks.

Hello Wayne, thank you for your question. It sounds like your defrost timer has failed. We would recommend replacing the timer PartSelect Number: PS310852 first. If that doesn't fix the issue we would recomend testing the defrost thermostat, and heater. I hope this helps!
