Heating element burned out. How do i replace?

Hello REnee and thanks for writing.
urn off breaker to the oven.
Unplug the oven’s plug from the electrical outlet.
Open the oven and remove the racks so you can access the back of the oven.
Locate the terminals that hold the bad element to the back of the oven.
Carefully slightly lift the element and pull towards you . element in place in different areas so check
Carefully slide the element out about 4 to 5 inches.
Take the old element completely out of the oven.
Put the new element into the oven and secure the prongs to the 2 electrical connectors the same way by gently pushing them in
Slide the element back into the opening where it secures to the oven back wall.
Plug in your oven and turn the ovens electrical breaker to “ON”.
Test the oven by putting it on bake mode and check to be sure it is heating properly. The baking element may smoke a little as the manufacturer adds some protective coating to it. Don’t worry as this is normal and the coating will burn off within a few minutes.
If test is successful, you have installed the element correctly. Job well done! We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime.

When removing the burnt out coil, the black wire retracted into the opening. We can see the wire but are not able to get the wire out.Can you please help?

While trying to retract the wire from inside of the back of the range, we pulled some of the insulation out, does this need to be replaced?

Baking element is sparking when the oven is turned on. Does this mean the element is bad or is there another problem?

Thank you for your question. Overtime, the heat produced degrades the insulation in the element and once it wears out the element will start to spark and burn out and it will need to be replaced. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Will i be able to return this baking element if it don't work or fit? This is a Hotpoint stove

Hello George, thank you for your question. Unfortunately, if the part is used or shows signs of installation we are unable to accept it back for resale. Per the model information the bake element PartSelect Number: PS249238 is the correct replacement. If the broil element works, and all other functions on the stove work, except this element that is the most likely issue and will fix the problem when installed. I hope this helps.

I would like to change bake element myself. Aside from turning off beaker and pulling plug. Is there any reason i should not try this.

Lower bake Element would not heat.
First I slid the stove out and unpluged it, then removed two screws,slid out element, disconected two wires, slid new element in to place, pluged two wires in ,put into place and installed two screws, pluged stove back in, and turned on to try. Works perfect.

Broken heating element
1)Turn off power to stove 2)remove 2 bolts holding heating element 3)pull element out of the back of the oven about 8" so that the wire connects is visable 4)pull wire clips off of heating element and remove element from the oven 5)put wire clips on the new heating element 6)push new heating element back into the holes in the back of the oven 7)screw botls back into the oven holding the heating element in place 8)Turn power back on

Oven Element had burned out
My husband did it, we unplugged the stove first then he removed the damaged element replaced it with the new plugged it back in and we were in buisness. I like that this was an acutual part for my stove(not some universal thing) and it arrived very quickly.

Lower Element Quit Working
I spent more time turning off the breaker and opening the door than replacing the element.
Nut driver to remove the 2 screws, NN Pliers to remove the leads, remove the element and reverse the process.
Hope this isn't copyrighted..... so easy, a caveman could do it!

The bake element burned out
First I unpluged the unit from the recepticle, then unscrewed the back panal from the oven. I removed the to wire connections from the bake element and then removed the two screws from the element itself. I removed the element and did exactly the sae in reverse to install the new unit.

The oven was not getting very hot because the bake element had stopped working (broiler element was fine).
I turned off the breaker to the stove, took the oven racks out, used my pliers to remove the nuts that hold the bake element in place, then used the pliers to disconnect the old element from the wires in the back of the stove. Connected the new element, screwed the nuts back in, flipped the breaker back on, and turned on the oven. Ten minutes, tops.

The bake element quit working.
First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires. I then connected the wires to the new element and reinstalled the two screws. A brief test showed the element worked and that was it.
