Terminal block and 8" element shorted
Unpluged range. Removed back cover to access the infinite switches . removed old burner and drip pan. removed terminal block and retaining screw on cooktop. removed terminal block wiring from infinite switch taking care to mind were the wires came from. Install new terminal block and reattached to cooktop . installed new 8" burner and drip pan reinstalled back panel and plug in electrical to unit . tested burner . replaced stove after verifying burner worked
The Drip pans were unusable due to excessive use, and I decided to replace the Surface Elements as well.
There was nothing to it...I unplugged the Sufrace Elements from thier bases, removed the Drip Bowls, replaced the Drip Bowls and then plugged the Surface Elements back in to thier bases. The entire process could not have taken more than two minutes.
removed burnt out terminal block, installed new- I soldered wires instead of using wire nuts, took a little extra time, but I feel it's a better connection. I later found that my rotary control must have burnt out too, I swapped it with one from another burner. I'll be ordering a couple rotary controls next from this company. All parts were nice quality. Received quickly.
I lifted out the burners and took out the old drip pans ans then replaced the burners. However the 8 inch pans were bigger than the old ones and they do not fit properly. They are sitting on top of the stove and not inserted like they should be. I will have to look elsewhere to find ones that fit.
the drip bowls were a mess- rusty and beyond cleaning
I removed the old drip pans, cleaned the range top, washed and installed the new drip pans and put the old pans, box and packing materials in the trash. In only 12 minutes my range top looked like new and the mess was picked up. Now, if I could just get the rest of the kitchen looking that good that fast!
The original drip pans had rusted and needed replacement.
We tried to find the replacement pans at the local hardware store and were disappointed in that although they were cheaper, they were not deep enough to handle the heating elements. We were delighted to find that the parts from PartSelect.Com were genuine GE parts... installed in minutes and were delivered VERY quickly!
A stainless steel cover was over the burner when it was turned on.
I removed the old burner, drip pan, and burner terminal block. Cut and stripped the wires. I used wire nuts to connect the wires and used shrink tube to secure the nuts. Installed the drip pan and the burner. Hint: When turning the burner on use a vent fan or open windows or doors to get rid of smoke from the new burner.

In measuring a drip pan, where do you do it: You mention 6" and 8" pans; mine are closer to 8" and 10", but that is across the top.
Hi Kathleen. Thank you for the question. In most cases it goes by the element it fits under. We can verify what drip pans fit your appliance, if you can provide the appliance model number. Hope this helps!
