Shutoff Arm Spring

Hi Douglas, Thank you for your question. If the arm is stuck in the off position and the ice maker is not making ice, this can prevent water from entering into the ice maker. The ice maker will send a signal to the water inlet valve so the valve will open when the ice maker has dumped the ice and it is ready to make more ice. The shut-off arm spring applies tension to the ice maker shutoff arm to hold it in place so that the ice maker will stop making ice when the ice bucket is full. The issue may be either the spring or it could be the ice maker itself. Remove the ice maker to see if the fill tube behind it is frozen as this can prevent water from entering the ice maker. To verify if the ice maker is working correctly, you will need to test it with a multimeter. Hello Joel, thank you for your question. We would recommend replacing the spring, as well as the ice arm lever Part #: PS1532728, or the entire icemaker assembly if you didn't want to disassemble the unit and repair it. I hope this helps.

If your ice maker is making too much ice, the shut-off arm in the ice maker assembly might be damaged, and you will need to replace the entire ice maker assembly, part number PS1992700, to resolve the problem.
