Dry stopped heating - still had good air flow
I was about to purchase a new dryer because of the age of my dryer and not wanting to hire someone to fix it. After a little web research, I saw several do-it -yourself stories indicating this was a very easy repair.

This was an extremely easy repair and it save me lots of $$:
(1) Disconnected power
(2) Opened the top of the dryer
(3) Disconnected wires to temperature sensor.
(4) Used a 1/2" socket wrench with extension and a drill to remove 2 screws holding down the temperature sensor
(5) Removed 1 screw holding down the heating element.
(6) Removed wires connected to heating element and pulled out old element.
(7) Reassembled new element.
(8) Turned on empty dryer for 30 minutes to burn off smell from the new element.

Worked like a charm!

Dryer Not Heating
This repair was so easy a sleeping Turtle could do it. You just remove the wiring from the old unit and remember which wire is on which terminal. Easily remove the old unit and replace it. Reattach the wires and you are done! Maytag is a very easy unit to work with. Just remember if you ever have to replace your Terminal Block, don't forget to order the brass nuts to attach the wires. Regular nuts will overheat and cause a fire hazard.

Dryer not getting clothes dry in one cycle
Raise the top of the dryer. This exposed the elements in the back. Removed old elements, paying attention to where the wires go.
Installed new elements, hooked the wires up, and I was done.

Heating element failure
After disconnecting power, I popped the lid open by grabbing it on the front sides. Swinging the lid completely back and out of the way, I disconnected the wires from the thermostat. Removing a few screws, the thermostat and the heating element were removed. Reverse the steps and that's it. Very easy repair and now the dryer is like new. While opened, I did take advantage and cleaned all of the lint from the exhaust passages.

Dryer ran, but did not heat up and dry clothes
Quick note: I saved over thirty dollars using partselect over the actuall Maytag store parts dept and they still had to order the part to be delivered in 4-5 days. First I pryed the top off of clips in front then removed the screws that hold the element into place, removed the therostat bracket held in by one screw and disconnected wire clips (after labeling the wires) and removed the thermostat from bracket by two screws then disconnected the element wires and slid the old element out. Reversed the process to reinstall the new parts.

Replace heating element
Was told by repairman that the to replace the heating element in my Performa dryer would cost approximately $185.00 (not incl.tax). Ridiculous! Order part for $59.00 and received it a day after it was ordered. Went to work installing heating element. Five minutes later I was finished. Thanks.

My dryer was still running but the clothes were not drying. Since I didn't know if it was the heating element or the thermostat, I ordered the part that includes both.
My son actually did the repair when he was over here and said it was so easy, even "Mom" could've done it! He said all he did was unscrew one little screw, life out the old part, drop the new part into that slot and replace the screw! It's the easiest repair I've ever heard of! Thank you....I will definitely order parts from your company in the future. Fast shipping too!!

I need to replace the heating element on my Crosley dryer. The instructional video (which is great!) shows the thermostat being replaced also. Does the thermostat come with the heating element part or is that ordered seperately? Is it necessary to replace the thermostat when replacing the heating element?
For model number cde6000w
PartSelect logo
Hello Judy, thank you for your question. Yes, the two parts come together. You would get the Heating element assembly with replacement high limit thermostat. I hope this helps!

If i should order the heating element and it dont solve the problem would the item still be returnable?
For model number pye2000ayw
PartSelect logo
Hi Jack, thanks for your question. I just cross-referenced your part with your model number and this heating element (PS2162280) is compatible with your dryer. If it doesn't solve the problem, you may also want to take a look at our repair help section to determine what other parts may be malfunctioning and causing this symptom. Unfortunately electrical parts which show signs of being installed or used cannot be accepted for refund under any circumstances. I hope this helps, and good luck with your repair.

Hi Asbury, Thank you for the question.I suggest testing or replacing the Door Switch. This dryer door switch contains three metal terminals. It is a simple on/off mechanism that prohibits the dryer from operating when the door is open.Hope this helps!

The dryer has warm air but not hot. I checked and only half the coil "glows" the temperature is set to high. I have 240 volts. I have continuity on the coil and thermostat. I was planning on changing the element or is there something else i should look at?
For model number PYE2300AYW

Hi Rick, Thank you for your question. You may also want to check your control thermostat and both of the thermal fuses in your appliance as well. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Hi, I have an Admiral dryer cemma I had a friend get one of those continuity testers and contested and it showed the heating element was out. But when I search the part on any website it shows a thermostat included I can't find the heating element separately. Does this Mean the thermostat is also out? Should I have my friend come test the thermostat separately? Or does this mean they just come as an assembly kit and I can replace the heating element therefore sitting on the new thermostat to use if needed down the road? Very confusing!!
For model number LNC7766B71
PartSelect logo
Hi Elsa, thank you for your question. The heating element kit, part number PS2162280, comes with a thermostat. The heating element is not sold separately. The kit includes the heating element and the thermostat. You can test the thermostat for continuity and if it is working, then you may only need to replace the heating element. We hope this sorts out your problem!

I'm getting no heat at all on Maytag. I assume it's the element. So should i do more than just replacing the element?
For model number HYE3658AYW
PartSelect logo
Hello Steven, thank you for your question. It would not be a bad idea to test the thermostats in the unit to rule them out before purchasing and replacing the element. I hope this helps.

For model number ade7000ayw

Hello J, thank you for your question. This gas dryer could be having an issue with the M Series New Style Coil Kit Part Number: 279834, Radiant Flame Sensor Part Number: WP338906 ,or Igniter with Wire Harness Part Number: WP31001556. We would recommend testing/replacing those parts first. I hope this helps!
