Front right burner wouldn't lite
The igniiter is made of ceramic and had cracked.
I remove the burner assembly, but couldn't remove the screw holding the igniter. After trying liquid wrench and every available screw driver. I opted to order the complete burner assembly. I installed the new assembly in 5 minutes and it worked great. This is the second ceramic igniter that has cracked on this stove top and both times I've had to replace the whole assembly. For a $1000 stovetop, I expected better quality. I'm just wondering how many times I'm going to have to replace burner assemblies. Each time it's been a different assembly.

Electrode not igniting burner
I've done this once before on this same gas stovetop as the electrode can degrade if it suffers from too many "boil-overs". The most important thing to do if the 2 screws holding the burner head on the cooktop are "tight" and don't unscrew easily is to soak them with WD-40 to loosen them up. Don't be in a hurry. They may need a couple of soak and waits. Once the screws are out, it's just a matter of connecting the wire on the electrode and replacing the burner. Also a Star screwdriver that fits properly is essential.

Two burners click, but do not light
I had the front right burner and back left burner always click, but never light without help from a match or lighter. So I saw how you can use rubbing alcohol to clean the ignitors with a Q-Tip. I did that, but the ceramic on the back left ignitor broke off with just a gentle cleaning. I ordered a replacement ignitor which came quickly. While waiting I had to try to get off the burner, as the Torx (star) screws were both not budging even with a little WD40. I ended up drilling both screws out. When the ignitor came I replaced it quite easily. However, all five burners started clicking and kept on clicking once I plugged the cooktop back in. Problem number two - the Spark Module or wiring had a problem. It was the Spark Module and I'll describe that repair with the next installation s=instruction I fill out.

Worn Burner Head Screws
Wanted to deep clean the range, but popped the worn screw heads on both the burner mounts and igniters embedded in the chassis. The way the range is designed, the bolts extend through the glass top and into the burner orifice. The bolts were unable to be extracted so replacement was the only option outside of a small third party machine shop. The double burner is discontinued and impossible to find, will replace this "High-End" POS when we remodel.

Igniter clicked but burner would not light
Once I got over my first time jitters this was easy. Lucky for me the old screws went back in just fine. The recommended 8/18 x 3/8 screws were way to small to be usable. Check the length of your existing screws if you can before purchasing the recommended ones.

Hi, Question: igniters continue to fire after flame is present.
For model number JGC8536ADS
PartSelect logo
Hello Brian, Thank you for the question. If all burners are clicking, we suggest cleaning around the igniters to make sure there is no moisture or food debris. If they are clear make sure the burner caps are centered. If the clicking continues, you may have a defective Spark Module. This part sends enough current to the igniter to create a spark to the bottom of the burner cap. We hope this helps!

This burner description says it comes with the igniter. The 360 degree picture shows it with the electrode that I assume is PS1173318. Another answer says it does not come with the electrode, and the price reflects that, but I just want to be positive before I order both. Also, does it come with the screws? I'm guessing I should order those as well. My current ones are a bit rusty and I suspect I'll mess them up just getting them out. Thank you very much! I'm looking forward to not having to use a lighter and cross my fingers to light that burner.
For model number JGD3430WB00
PartSelect logo
Hello Peg, thank you for reaching out. According to our research, the surface burner base you mentioned comes with the spark igniter. The screw that holds the burner base is part number PS11746840, and it is sold individually. The screw does not come with the surface burner base. We hope that helps!
