This evaporator fan motor is located in the back of the freezer, and circulates air over the refrigerator coils. These coils will convert the heat into cool air, which is then circulated.

Part fit as intended, easy install
The part arrived quickly and was correct except it did not come with instructions. There was an additional ground wire provided that was not part of the original installation as the original motor had two wires. The instructions would have been helpful to know where the 3 wires connected to the motor as it is not marked (the original is sealed) but common sense and logic won out.

Freezer cold, but Fridge part not getting anything
Removed Freezer drawers.
Removed the 4 screws holding the freezer back cover.
Removed plastic cover off Temperature sensor and the cover that directed the airflow.
Unplugged fan and disconnected the clip holding the motor.
Removed grommets from motor and installed on new motor.
Attached new motor and clip to fridge and reconnected.
Reinstalled back plate and out all 4 screws back in.
Plugged fridge back in and new fan motor was working, and there was an immediate difference in the temp in fridge.
4 days later fridge is working fine
Removed the 4 screws holding the freezer back cover.
Removed plastic cover off Temperature sensor and the cover that directed the airflow.
Unplugged fan and disconnected the clip holding the motor.
Removed grommets from motor and installed on new motor.
Attached new motor and clip to fridge and reconnected.
Reinstalled back plate and out all 4 screws back in.
Plugged fridge back in and new fan motor was working, and there was an immediate difference in the temp in fridge.

The refrigerator was not getting cold on the top.
I found a similar problem in your forum and desided to give it a shot. The evaporator fan had stop working. It took me a while to find it but I discovered it inside the bottom drawer. I took off the drawer to make it easy to get to. I took off the back cover and there it was. I unplug it and replaced it with the new one which did not look like it at all but since it was the one that I received I pluged it and it worked. I was very satisfied. Thank you again for helping save money.

freezer cold, refrigerator warm
about half my time was spent figuring out how drawer front and back panel were held in:
remove wire baskets
lift freezer drawer front to remove
remove ice maker...held in by 3 screws,then unplug
remove back panel screws
then on this model, there is a vent towards the top of the panel that is held in by unseen plastic clips on the top left and top right that had to be pressed in with a screwdriver to remove
unplug freezer evap motor also held together by clips
remove and replace motor (old fan blade pulls off and slides on new motor shaft)
plug motor back in
reinstall back panel
reinstall ice maker
reinstall drawer front and baskets
remove wire baskets
lift freezer drawer front to remove
remove ice maker...held in by 3 screws,then unplug
remove back panel screws
then on this model, there is a vent towards the top of the panel that is held in by unseen plastic clips on the top left and top right that had to be pressed in with a screwdriver to remove
unplug freezer evap motor also held together by clips
remove and replace motor (old fan blade pulls off and slides on new motor shaft)
plug motor back in
reinstall back panel

Refrigerator Stopped Cooling, Freezer worked
I Removed the drawers from the freezer compartment. Removed the ice maker, 3 screws. Removed the plastic vent cover, and steel panel on back of the freezer. Unplugged the wires for the fan motor. Removed the fan motor. The new motor was a replacement part. It looked different but it worked. Added a ground wire, as per instructions I replaced the motor, and reassembled the few parts that were removed. It really went well. No problems. Saved a lot of money by fixing it myself. It's working great. I got it fixed for about $40.00 I hat to think what it would have cost if I would have taken it to a repair shop.

freezer ok, fridge hot
moved food to garage fridge, took drawers and shelves out, found fan area, removed back wall in freezer by removing icemaker and 4 screws, no on local would sell just fan motor, when part arrived just reinstalled everything . unit working better then when new. Thanks PartSelect, I saved hundereds of dollars !!!!!

Refrigerator not getting cold - Freezer OK
Per others' descriptions of this issue, I confirmed that the fan in the upper area of the freezer was not functioning. Purchased this assembly, which had everything ready to go. Removed all existing assemblies, ice maker, wall, old fan then installed new fan assembly with old rubber bushings and plastic blades - plugged in - and ran like a champ. Reassembled all then let cool down to correct temp and reloaded frig. All parts worked great - received them day after order - very impressed. Couple hours - fairly easy repair.

Refridge stopped cooling but freezer OK
Pulled out the drawers in the freezer. Loosened the four screws holding the back of freezer compartment exposing the fan. Had to disconnect and unmount the icemaker also. Disconnected and replaced the fan motor. The fan ordered didn't look the same as the original. The original was contained in a plastic housing.

Followed the very easy step by step instructions. Everything was exactly as shown...Could not have been any easier. It was a little cramped getting into the freezer area to remove and replace but all in all the best 37.92 I every spent!!! Thank you so Much.....

Freezer is cold and refrigerator warm. Fins had frost on them. Replaced control board and defrost thermostat. Fridge still warm. Checked and fan does move and work but again fridge not cold. Damper door in upper refrigerator appears to be open so that seems good. What would be causing this?

Hello Brian, thank you for your question. I would recommend checking the thermistor in the unit, part number Thermistor Part Number: 12002355. If this part isn't working, it will not tell the board to start the fan to push the air through to the fridge from the freezer. That part is located in the freezer section where the coils are. It appears the Maytag fridge is keeping the food cold however the movable brace between the french doors is warm to the touch.The freezer located below is working fine.Should the evaporator fan motor be replaced?

Hello James, thank you for inquiring. If the Vertical Mullion Rail, part number PS11738596 for your model, seems to be too warm then it is a sign that the refrigerator is overheating. This could mean that there is a problem with the Condenser Fan Motor, part number PS2004026 for your model. I hope this helps and good luck with your repair!

I have replaced the electronic control board; the condenser start device and capacitor; the defrost thermostat; and the thermistor; and after each separate part replacement the fridge and freezer would run ice cold for four days to a week and then get warm again i replaced a different part and the same problem would repeat i took it to a local repairman who connected sensors and after 4 days the problem repeated itself and he could not recommend an answer why would this happen after each part replacement if i had done it incorrectly why would it seem to work and then stop again i have unplugged the fridge for a day and it would not start back up then transporting it to the repairman it worked again he suggested a short in the wiring but if so why would it repeat this pattern and instead just stay off mahalo for your help
