ice maker not working properly and door seal worn
Two screws held the icemaker on. You do not even have to take them all the way out to remove the IM. Replacement of the water valve was just as easy except they (parts manufacturer) updated the flange nut with a compression fitting and it took me a minute looking at it before I realize what was going on. The door seal could not be easier, no tools just a few minutes of time

No ice
Removed the plate on the back of the refrigerator, removed the bolt holding the water valve in place (didn't know you could cut the water line to get it off), Plugged in the new water valve and water lines, 15 minutes, very easy to do.
Removing the ice maker was easy, 2 bolts and a plug. Loosen 2 bolts, lift the ice maker off, unplug it. Put the water chute and ice guard on the new one, put it back on the bolts, spend 1/2 hr getting the plug back in (couldn't see past my own hand), Tighten the bolts and you're done.
Really not difficult, except that the plug was angled, and I had to go by feel.

ice stalactites were drooling out of the icemaker and gumming up the cubes in the receiving tray.
I first shut off water flow to the fridge. Examination of the package (which was not exact in appearance to the original) demonstrated that the electrical connectors were well-insulated so I arrogantly and successfully proceded without disconnecting the power. My fridge is old enough that the model doesn't appear exactly on anyone's list so I wasn't alarmed that it took an extra 10 minutes or so to noodle out how to adapt the slightly different inlet cowling and electrical cord with extension, but the device is pretty simple.
Soon I loosened the two mounting screws with a nut driver, used a screwdriver to pry away the plastic snap-in housing over the electrical socket on the fridge inner wall and pulled away the electrical plug. The original water fill tube remained in its cavity, ready for re-use.
The new unit's mounting points matched the original screw locations perfectly, as did the fill cowling - which on the replacement icemaker has two possible attachment points. The new unit's electrical connector required an extension pigtail to adapt to my socket, but it was included in the package. The extra cable posed a minor cosmetic issue because it hangs in the collection basket a bit, but that will soon be remedied with a tie wrap.
After the water was restored and an anxious wait of a few hours, we had well-formed ice cubes that weren't all stuck together and the stalactites haven't reappeared.

Ice maker stopped working
I unplugged the electrical connection. Then I removed the 2 screws holding the icemaker in place. I lifted out the old icemaker unit and put the new one in place. Then put the 2 screws back in and plugged in the new unit.

The icemaker started making ice very soon after turning the unit on.

ice maker leaked water slowly and froze the cubes together
The replacement ice maker that GE supplies for my old refrigerator is a little different than the original. The electrical plug changed from a round plug to a square one. They include an adapter for it, but DON'T USE IT. There's not enough room for the bulky cord and connector. I got a much cleaner installation by taking apart the old and the new ice maker, and then splicing in the old connector into the new ice maker. You need to carefully unscrew a circuit board inside to wire it in, and it'll be more secure if you solider 3 wires instead of using crimp connectors. The instructions also tell you to use your old 'ice breaker', but it won't fit on the new ice maker. I just left the new ice maker's ice breaker on, and it seems to work perfect.

Ice maker quit making ice
the first thing i did was replace the water valve at the bottom of the refrigerator but that didn't work so then i spent more time researching the problem on your site and your diagnostic said to replace the ice maker so i ordered it, took the old one out, plugged the new one in and we had ice the next day.

Quit making ice.
There were not two screws as the instructions said. There was only one screw and I had to firmly pull it out after taking out the one screw. Then, to put the new one in, I had to line up two slots on two knob-like things and push it in firmly. Then screw the one screw in.

Other than the two-screw problem, it was easy.

Ice was melting and freezing in bucket
Frig and freezer were defrosting and refreezing other than normal. Home warranty contractor told me ice maker was faulty. Purchased new ice maker. Unplugged frig, loosened 2 screws with nut driver. unplugged old ice maker, lifted old ice maker out. Took old fill cup off old unit and put on new unit since new fill cup was a different size. Swapped ice maker insert from old to new unit. Plugged in new ice maker, slid over the 2 screws, tightened, and plugged in frig power. New ice maker works fine but still have defrosting and refreezing problem. Figure old ice maker probably works just fine. New contractor still trying to solve problem. Have had problems with this GE Monagram keeping proper temps since it was new in 2005, don't recommend it.

The ice freezes but wont kick out the cubes, does the ice maker need to be replaced or can it be fixed?
For model number HSS25GFPA WW

Hello Leo, that is a great question. That would be the ice maker motor. That part is not sold separately from the manufacturer, you would need to replace the whole ice maker. Good luck with the repair!

Changed water inlet valve got water to water but no water going to ice maker .What could be my problem . I have changed my ice maker from the one that came in my ref. 2 times and now can't get one out of the 3 to work .Very frustrated please help
For model number GSS20GEWPWW
PartSelect logo
Hi Jackie, Thank you for the question. I suggest is checking the water lines going to the ice maker. The lines can freeze and prevent water from flowing through to the ice maker. Also check to make sure all the connectors in the water lines are secure and not damaged. Verify the water supply going to the appliance is open as well. If the water filter has not been changed in 6 months it can prevent water from getting to the ice maker as well. Hope this helps!

It's making ice but also leaking water on bottom of the freezer section to the floor what can cause that
For model number GSH25JSXNSS
PartSelect logo
Hi Mitchell, Thank you for your question. There are a number of parts that can cause leaking inside of your appliance. The first part in the list is your water inlet valve, water lines, grommet and tube assembly (which is the part that fills water to your ice maker) if you have the older version and the tube does not have an opening at the top, it could be that your current fill tube is icing up at times and wont let water through when it is being called up. Causing a back leak. I would suggest looking at those parts first. When you search your model number in our system, we will have a symptoms list with the list of parts that usually cause leaking in your appliance. If those three parts are not the culprit, you could consult that symptoms list. Good luck with your repair.

Connected my water line and when i turned it on i have a leak coming from inside by the ice tray and no water coming out from the water dispenser ...
For model number GSHF3KGZBCBB
PartSelect logo
Hi Antonio, Thank you for your question. I would suggest taking a look at your water line first. Make sure it is connected correctly and not broken. If that is all fine and your leaking is coming from your ice maker area, I would suggest taking a look at your fill cup. You may also have to look at your filter housing and filter head as well. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Ice maker is not making ice, but water in the door runs. The light is blinking, but there is no ice trapped in the ice maker and there is no water in the water mold. How can i isolate the problem?
For model number PSS27NHMDW
PartSelect logo
Hello Roy, Thank you for your inquiry. I would check the line that goes from the water inlet valve to the ice maker for any leaks or clogs. I would also test the water inlet valve on the ice side to see if it is working. You can test it with a multimeter. If the water inlet valve has sufficient pressure and is getting power, but the ice maker won’t fill with water to make ice, replace the water inlet valve. Hope this helps!

I am resubmitting question the ice maker is not making ice and after resetting, the light starts to blink continuously after about a half hour. I can hear the ice maker work but no ice.
For model number GSS25XSQASS

Hi Rocco, Thank you for the information. The green light on your refrigerator icemaker is flashing because the icemaker will not make ice. You can try to run the following tests.Turn icemaker Off for 15 seconds and turn back on,Push in on paddle 3 times and only 3 times within 15 seconds of powering the icemaker back on.Within 3 minutes, the icemaker should enter the harvest mode. The heater will turn on for a about of 20 seconds, and the comb inside the icemaker will make one full revolution and return to the "Home" position. At the end of 3 minutes, the icemaker mold should fill with water. The green light under the ON/OFF switch should be on and steady. If this does not fix the issue you may need to replace the icemaker. Hope this helps!

I want to replace the ice maker. Your website indicates the original ice maker in no longer available but it can be replaced with manufacturer part number wr30x10093. However, the part number cross reference does not include my old ice maker which is wr30x0306. Will the suggested replacement part work in my refridge?

Hi Jerry, Thank you for your question. Yes, according to your model information this part is supposed to be the correct replacement for your appliance. Good luck with your repair.

Ice maker problem - it appears that I'm getting a lot of excess flow. Initially the problem appeared because the grommet popped off the back of the fridge while we were out of town resulting in water being dumped in the floor every time the ice maker thought it needed to cycle. Lots of ice from overflow in the freezer, with the tube that comes through the back wall froze solid. I got the tube thawed out - also melted the end of it a bit with the hair dryer. Trimmed about 1/2" off and thought all would be good. Now I can see what was really happening - lots of extra water coming in fast enough to splash around and start the ice build up again, which I'm fairly confident resulted in the plugged and the frozen solid inlet tube. Two questions: Does this sound like i need a new inlet valve? Will the 1/2 shorter tube with a now imperfect end make any difference as lot as it reaches to the cup?
For model number TBX21NIXZRWW
PartSelect logo
Hi Lynn, Thank you for the question. This sounds like an issue with a defective water inlet valve. The valve can become "stuck" open and allow to much water through. Hope this helps!

Goo day my ice makes the ice but when i press the buttons for the ice to comes out it does not. I can hear the motor humming. The shaft that inside the ice maker tray is not turning to release the ice. I think the part with the motor is shot. How can i get a replacement and whats the parts # or the name of the motor etc. Thanks jerry
For model number GSS251FRFCC

Hi Gerald, Thank you for your inquiry. There are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the ice bucket auger, the dispenser door solenoid, the ice bucket assembly, the motor and the electronic control board. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
