Electronic glass heating Element does not cycle on off but stays on.

The burner does not regulate the heat. It just gets hotter and hotter. This is the right replacement part for my stove. As I understand it the sensor is probably not working and it is part of the element, so this should solve the problem, right?

Our right front (dual) burner initially was working/not working, then the other day sparked/flared under the glass top & the Hot Surface light stayed on. Lifted the glass top and found the plastic(?) piece that the wires connect to appears scorched and was actually cracked in two. 1) is this the correct burner; 2) will replacing this burner resolve the issue or potentially an underlying issue exists?

Both my front burners on this stove, regardless of where the knob is turned to doesn't cycle, but stays on. I am wondering if this is the correct part to replace these elements.
