Washer would not drain ,F02 and SUD code displaying
(1) First I unpluged the washer then I removed the water from the tube with a water vac.(2) Then I removed the three (3) screws that holds the front panel, using a Torx T-20 socket. ( this is a front load washer ). The panel is below the loading door.
(3) I packed towels under the washer.
(4) I slowly removed the cleanout in the front of the pump, using the water vac to catch the water as it leaked out.
(5) I removed the wiring to the motor.
(6) I removed the screw that holds the pump in place with a Torx T-20 socket.
(7) I pulled the pump forward so the clamps that hold the drain hose and discharge hose could be removed using the hose clamp pliers. ( they come off much easier then they go back on ).
(8) I tested the pump and found it would run but was making a lot of noise and running slow.
(9) To reinstall start with number (7) and work backwards to number (1) skipping (3) and (4).

Water still in tub / tub would not spin
Don't know how they managed to get out of the washer tub, but we found a quarter, dime and penny in the "lint" filter (called the "Cap" in the PartSelect details). The penny managed to get into the impeller and took out 3 1/2 of the 4 impeller blades.

Replacement is very simple, about a 15-20 minute job Be sure the machine is unplugged for safety.Remove the three (3) screws holding the lower front panel and remove the panel. The pump assembly is a white unit about the middle of the opening (the original pump itself was black, the new one is white). Unscrewing the large cap will allow any residual water to drain out (we used a wet/dry shop vac to get most of the water out of the tub first). Following the wires going to the pump, there is a cover over the wiring connector that easily pops up and the connector can be pulled out. Directly below the unit is a screw with a Torx head that has to be removed, then two (2) hoses held with compression hose clamps that need to be removed with pliers. The unit will slide out of the base of the washer. There is a wiring harness in front of this assembly that can be popped loose on one side or the other to get the unit out.

Reversing the steps gets everything back in place.

NOTE: A notice came with my new pump stating that a tab needed to be removed on the wiring connector. It is easily removed by hand.

By the way - that was the most expensive penny I've ever owned! Pockets in jeans are now required to be turned out in our house before they are allowed in the washer!

Water would not drain, motor died
Remove the lower front cover there are three small torx type screw. The pump is the very first thing you see. Have a wet and dry Vac available you will need it. The drain pump and the drain lines contain a lot of water. Unscrew the big white drain plug at the pump and clean up the water, remove the front small mounting screw and disconnect the two hoses in the back of the pump with pliers and follow the pre-printed steps in reverse. If your machine is more than six years old you will have to use a utility knife and remove a piece of plastic on the electrical connector that is from the washer wiring, if you force the connection on it will brake, look at the connection and the plug and attempt to plug it in before you install the pump. It is easy just be-aware of the connector.

Washer would not spin ( F-02 comes on)
1-Unplug washer
2-Remove the bottom of the front washer cover 3 screws
3-Locate pump and loosen pump drain cover turn to left just a little enough for water to start draining.
4- Suck-up water with wet/ dry vac. Remove 1 screw holding pump.
5- Flip pump electrical cover up and disconnect wiring from pump.
6- Remove 2 hose clamps. The outlet was not to hard to remove, but the intake was not easy to get the pliers on.
7- Install new pump. See instruction to install. I didn't have to remove any ribs to install the connector as in the instruction sheet that came with the new pump. Also I didn't think it was very clear instruction.
8- Last installing the spring clamps. The outlet went okay, but the inlet I never could get on. I could not get the pliers on the clamp. I fooled around at least 20 min. trying to get the clamp on. I went out and bought a 3/4 to 1 3/4 stainless hose clamp with the worm drive design. That is what took so long. You may want to get new hose clamps before starting.
Other wise I did okay.

leak suddenly developed
Somehow a bobby pin got into the drain pump housing. When it started to drain, the pin was rammed through the housing.Extremely easy to remove and replace. No special skills needed. Whirlpool did a good job in making it idiot proof. Unpacking the part took longer than installing it. Don't be afraid to do this repair. If you own a pair of pliers and a screwdriver, you can do it.

Not Draining - Flashing F-02
First and foremost, I usually call a real man to come do a job like this, but after reading the repair stories, I gave it a shot. Very, very easy. Pop of the bottom panel off (three torx screws), drain the water out of the tub (if any), and just follow the directions in the box. Anyone can do this one.

Washer would not operate, water in drum would not drain. Error code indicated a bad pump
Removed three mounting screws to the front access panel, removed panel, cleaned out drain trap, attempted to reset and drain washer, pump did not operate. Removed one wire harness to pump, two hose clamps and slipped pump assembly out of its mounting grommets, and installed new pump in reverse order. A sinch! And saved me approximately $150.00 bucks in repair service fees.

Tub would not drain even though pump was running
Remove three screws holding the lower panel, the pump is right up front. Probably the hardest part was holding the hose clamps open while attaching the hoses to the pump housing. One screw holds the pump assembly in place. Hold the over-ride switch closed, check for leaks, and replace the loser panel.

Clothes came out dripping wet
Just removed the bottom cover to access the water pump. Drained the water through the filter housing. One screw and two hose clamps and the pump was out. Installed new pump and checked for leaks. None found so the cover was secured in plase. Great news, WIFE is happy.

Hi, I have been getting the f21 error code. I have had this code before and usually find a sock or two clogging things up, but this time we have checked everything and can't seem to find any blockages. It does drain and spin, but won't finish a cycle when the code appears so we have sopping wet clothing. The only thing we notice that is different is when we cancel the mode to erase the f21, there is a loud whirring coming from the pump. I am assuming that this is a pump that has gone bad. We are not experts and my husband wants to make sure we have found the problem before we order the part. Thanks so much for any advice!!
For model number Maytag MHWE450WW01

Hello Tara, thank you for your question. The Whirlpool washer error code F21 means the washing machine has a “water draining issue”, meaning the drain pump itself, or the drain hose is clogged and the washer is having problems draining the water out. In other words, the washer is taking too long to drain the water out of the tub. If nothing is clogging the unit we would recommend replacing the drain pump. I hope this helps!

My Whirlpool duet steam washing machine makes an unbearable loud whirling noise only during the spin cycle. What do you think? Will the drum drive pulley resolve the problem? I thought i need a bearing. Thank you.
For model number WFW9750WL01
PartSelect logo
Hi John, Thank you for the question. If the noise is only present while spinning, I would be an issue with the tub bearing. The bearing is only sold as part of the Rear Tub Assembly. I looked up the part and it is listed as No Longer Available/Discontinued. There is no part substitutions listed. My suggestion here would be to call the manufacturer and see if they can provide you with a substitution for these part numbers. Hope this helps!

My machine won’t spin or drain. What do I need.
For model number 11045862404
PartSelect logo
Hello Barb, Thank you for the question. You will want to put your appliance into the diagnostic mode. Before you run a diagnostic test make sure the washer is empty and the control is off and the door is close. Step 1. Push “control/on” Step 2. Select the drain/spin cycle, Step 3. Select the “no spin” by pressing the “spin speed” touch-pad, Step 4. Push “prewash option” four times within five seconds. If prewash option is not present on this model, press “rinse hold” four times within five seconds. C:00 will light up on the display (door should lock if this indication is displayed). If the starting procedure fails, push the pause/cancel touchpad, then repeat the starting procedure. Hope this helps!

Hi Mike thank you for your question. There are a few parts that you could check for this issue. First you should take a look at your belt and pulley for any wear and tear. It could be that your appliance is not spinning as fast as it should be. If those parts are fine then you may want to take a look at your drain pump for being the issue. Good luck with your repair.

I not have problem spin or draing but water filling up with waterafter done washing it will take a day or two to start waterin the tub
For model number 1104592404
PartSelect logo
Hi Walter, thank you for your question. If you are having an issue with water coming into your tub even when the appliance is off or not supposed to be bringing in water. Then you may need to actually look at your water inlet valve for being the issue. Good luck with your repair.

Hello, Our problem is the machine will have water in the tub that will leak out over the door opening, so we have to keep door closed to prevent water from going on the floor. What part is failing that allows water to fill tub after using this is sporadic and happens about every three loads.
For model number KHWS01PWH0
PartSelect logo
Hi Mike, Thank you for your question. If there is water leaking from the door, the issue may be the bellow sometimes referred to as the door boot seal. The door bellow is used on front load washers to seal between the door and the outer tub. Normal wear and tear can cause the rubber bellow to crack, and foreign objects may tear or rip the bellow and create a leak at the front of the washer. If your washer appears to be leaking near the door area, then you should suspect that the bellow may be the cause. Disconnect your washer from the power source. Open the door and carefully inspect the bellows for signs of damage or for dirt and detergent buildup that may prevent a tight seal to the door. Use caution as sharp foreign objects that can cause tears, are often left in the folds of the bellows and may present a hazard. If you find any of the symptoms above, you will need replacement bellows. If the bellow is not causing the leak, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. Here is a link from our website that you may reference on what parts to check, https://www.partselect.com/AdvancedModelSymptoms.aspx?ModelNum=KHWS01PWH0&mfgModelNum=&fkMfgID=3&ModelMasterID=203786&PID=13. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
