Product Description
FUSE Specifications
This ceramic microwave fuse is just over an inch in length. It is white in the center, and metal on both ends. This is a 20-amp fuse, and is used to power your microwave. If the touch pad on the microwave becomes unresponsive, the microwave produces little to no heat, or the appliance simply does not turn on, it could mean that your fuse is at fault and needs to be replaced. Because this part contains an electrical charge, remember to disconnect power to the microwave unit before you begin this repair.
NOTE: Before you start this repair, ensure that the microwave is unplugged, and the capacitor is discharged. A capacitor stores large amounts of electricity even after your microwave is unplugged.

Replacing the part was easy. Handle the current for a while. Unfortunately the problem was deeper than that. A repair tech will diagnose the problem.

Microwave completely stopped working
Turned out the issue was easily solved by replacing a single, inexpensive fuse.
First off, UNPLUG THE MICROWAVE.
The fuse is located under the plastic grill at the top of the microwave. It's held on by two screws. Once you've removed the screws and taken off the plastic grill, you go to the right side of the microwave and remove another screw that holds a small metal grill in place. Removing the small metal grill is probably the toughest part of this repair. You kind of have to rock it back and forth a bit to get it to release. Once that's off, you can get to the fuse. I removed the burnt out one with a pair of needle nose pliers. I also put a small piece of cardboard under the fuse when I did this so I didn't accidentally drop it into the innards of the microwave. I did the same thing when I replaced the new fuse. I then plugged the appliance back in and made sure it worked. Once that was confirmed, I replaced both grills.

appliance stopped working -- no readout on screen
1. turned off electricity -- unplugged the unit 2. removed 3 screws on top of top vent, removed vent screen then I located the little white cylindrical fuse and popped it out with a table knife. Then I popped in the new fuse. Replaced the vent screen and screws -- plugged in the appliance and it is working again.

Touch pad failed to respond to any programming effort
Went to onlin source, found a couple youtube videos then went to the GE site which had a not-too-easy that find trouble shooting guide. It was extremely helpful as it described a fuse as a fix 80% of the time for touch paid failure. I really didn't believe it would b a fuse, but it was the cheapest fix, $8. I got the fuse and was surprised to fine there are two of them on this model. I took a guess and replaced the top one ( neither fuse was black or burned to indicate a failure but the top one was a bit mor greyish). put it all back together and it works fine.

Microwave does not have power at all, though outlet has power
unplugged power cable / unhooked front vent / unscrew the monitor panel / slide up to dislodge / take the fuse out and put in the new one in / fuse is located right in front of monitor panel once its open might be covered by wirings / you can unpin the cables from the panel to make it easier for you just make sure to put it back properly or you can have somebody hold the panel for you. Installing the fuse is easy waiting for the parts is crazy......

The microwave just died and has no light or display. Power is good at the outlet. I suspect the fuse but not sure. Do you have any replacement instructions for fuse replacement?
For model number JVM6175SK3SS
Hello David, Thank you for the question. The fuse is located on the top right of the microwave near the front. Accessing it will require the top and side panel to be removed if it can not be viewed from the front. If you are not familiar with Microwave repair we suggest a repair man. The Microwave can hold a charge even when not plugged in and will need to be discharged before the repair. We hope this helps!

My microwave comes on but does not heat.
For model number JVM1440BD 003
Hi Mary,
Thank you for your question. If your microwave is not heating, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the fuse, the door switches, the high voltage diode, the magnetron, the hood thermostat and the thermal fuse. We have included a link that you may reference on how check these parts. We hope this helps! Good luck with the repair!

Microwave only comes on for 8 seconds then shuts off.. pf is on control panel. could it be fuse inside microwave?
For model number JES1451DS1WW
Hello Sue, thank you for your question. The PF indicates a power failure within the unit. We would recommend testing the following parts for continuity. THERMOSTAT Part Number: WB24X10163, THERMOSTAT Part Number: WB27X11100, and FUSE Part Number: WB27X10928. If those parts are fine, the issue is probably with the main control board. I hope this helps!

How do I and where is the fuse located
For model number JE1590SH01
Hi Tom,
Thank you for your question. The fuse is located on the top right of the microwave near the front. Accessing it will require the top and side panel to be removed if it cannot be viewed from the front. If you are not familiar with Microwave repair we suggest a repair man. Before starting this repair, unplug the microwave from the electrical outlet. You will also need to discharge the capacitor as it can hold a charge even when not plugged. How do I access the fuse? I can't figure out how to remove the front panel or the control panel to check to see if the fuse is blown. I need to check this part because the microwave won't turn on and the control panel is unresponsive.
For model number PT7800SHSS
Hi William,
Thank you for your question. NOTE: If you are not comfortable doing this yourself, please get an electrician to do this repair. Before you begin any repair, please unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to unthread the screws securing the grill. With the screws removed, open the microwave oven door then the slide the grill to the left and lift up to remove it. Next remove the control panel mounting screw and then lift the control panel up to detach. Then remove the screw holding the inner access panel and then release the panel from the retaining clips. To avoid injury, you will need to release the potentially dangerous charge from the capacitor by placing a screwdriver with an insulated handle across the terminals. Be careful not to touch the metal portion of the tool. Use pliers to detach the old fuse from the noise filter board. Install the new fuse by snapping it into the bracket. Replace the inner access panel and secure it with the screws. Now insert the control panel tabs into the slots in the frame and push the panel down. Secure it with the mounting screw. Insert the tabs of the grill into the frame and slide it to the right. Shut the oven door and then secure the grill with the screws. Plug the power cord back in and the microwave should now work. We hope this helps. If you would like to place an order for a fuse, customer service is open 7 days a week and anyone will be happy to assist you. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!

Hi - our GE Advantium microwave (from 2012) suddenly showed a "Key panel SHORTED. Service may be needed" message on the screen and stopped working. Will this fuse repair that short, or is a whole new panel necessary? And is replacing the panel feasible as a DIY project, for a relatively handy person but with limited appliance repair experience? Thank you!
For model number ZSA1201RSS01
Hello Aaron, Thank you for the question. This indicates the Control Panel with the Keypad will need to be replaced. Microwaves can be tricky since they can hold a dangerous charge even if left unplugged for a period of time. It will need to be discharged to safely perform the repair. If you are not familiar with Microwave repairs, it is best to contact a repair man. We hope this helps!

Microwave stopped heating, want to change fuse first but I need to know how to do this. Second turntable keeps turning replaced one door switch but found that there are 3 switches which one or do I have to replace all 3 thanks for the help
For model number RVM1535DM2BB
Hello Christopher, thank you for the question. If the fuse was blown the appliance would not power on as it cuts power to the appliance once blown. The No Heat can be caused by a faulty door switch as well. Only way to know what switch is the issue is testing all three with a multimeter to check the continuity. If you need help placing an order, customer service is open 7 days a week. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!

This GE Convection Microwave stopped working abruptly and the panel went dark.
Replaced the ceramic fuse and was able to set the clock.
However, as soon as I tested the unit with a cup of water, the MW went dead and the panel went dark.
The ceramic fuse still tests good for continuity.
What else can be causing the problem?
For model number PVM1790sr1ss
Hi Ken, thank you for the great question. Based on the description that you have provided, we would recommend checking the continuity of switches. If they are fine, then you have to replace the control board, part number PS1018328, to solve the problem. We hope this helps!
