Lights inside refrigerator not working
I used a flat-head screwdriver to pop out the old light rocker switch. Then, I unplugged the wires, plugged them into the new light rocker switch, and then popped the new switch into the hole. That's it! Lights began working again.

Light Switch broke
An easy job for smaller hands. Removed the two bolts holding the light cover. Removed two electrical connections from the old switch by pinching the retaining clip, removed the switch, snapped in the new one and re-attached the connectors. Your online illustrations helped me to know that the plastic housing for the light switch would only swing down so far and was not intended to be removed. Saved me from breaking that plastic cover's tabs. This home repair saved me more than 5 times the cost of hiring a professional to do it. Very happy homeowner.

The light switch on the refridgerator broke - no light.
Once I saw the replacement part I understood how to pry out the switch with a small screwdriver. Then just unplug the old one, plug in the new one and pop it into place.

The PartSelect site made it easy to correctly identify the correct part, it was inexpensive, and the shipping was fast.

I'm very pleased!

Refrigerator (Top, non-freezer section) light switch broke & light socket bad with age.
Turned off power to Refrigerator.
1)Removed broken light switch, using a screwdriver, to gently pry it out. Then unlugged the switch from the connector. I used long nosed pliers to gently pull out the connector from inside the frig, so I could easily plug in the new light switch. I then pressed the new light switch back in place.
2) Remove light cover. I then unclipped the socket which holds the light bulb, I gently pulled it out and unplugged it from the two wires. I then attached the two wires onto the new light socket and clipped it back in place. Bingo done with both items practically no time!

My refrigerator ran constantly and never got cold!
On a whim I looked into what it would take to fix my garage older 2nd fridge. I was thinking I needed a new seal, but when I checked the website there was a great troubleshooter. I would have never guessed that the defrost timer was what would cause it not to ever get cold. After a fairly simple repair the freezer is colder than ever and I actually had to turn it down. The only complication was the fridge was stuck in a defrost cycle so I had to reset the timer to get the refrigerator running. Thanks so much for a super helpful site for a do-it-yourselfer like me.

Light switch broken; door bin broken
I removed the broken door light switch by inserting the flat end of a butter knife along the right side of the old switch. This depressed the tab that holds the switch in place, and the switch popped out. I tranferred the two slip-in wire connectors from the old switch to the new one and pushed the new switch into place. It was quick and easy. If you examine the new switch, you will see how the squeeze-tab works and how you need to release its tension to remove it.

The door bin just slipped into the holders from above.

Switch light didn't work; broken drawer cover hinge
I removed the switch assemble from the panel with a Swiss Army knife. Disconnected the two wires and reversed the process with the new switch. Not being all that handy, I assumed the job would be very involved, but was very pleased that it was nearly effortless. A less than 15 minute operation.

Removing the right side panel of the lower drawer was a slightly more involved, requiring the removal of 3-4 screws and replacing the inner workings of the temperature adjustment workings on the new panel. But it proved pretty simple and only required about 20 minutes start to finish.

Where do you replace the light switch? My lights stopped working in my freezer and also the top of my refrigerator. The lights on the sides still work normally.
For model number WRF767SDHZ00
PartSelect logo
Hello Brenda, Thank you for the question. The Switch for the Fresh Food Section is located on the side of the cabinet where the door will close onto the frame of the appliance. The switch for the freezer should be in the top Middle section of the Cabinet where the Freezer Door would close onto the frame of the Freezer in front of the Light Cover. We hope this helps!

Cabinet led lights are dim. While putting groceries away on sunday most of the lights dimmed, then brightened, flickered many times, then went dim full time. 2-3 of the lights are still their normal brightness, while the others are 1/10th of their normal brightness.

Light bulbs on refrigerator side do not go on when door is opened. Checked/replaced both bulbs. However, control panel digital readout does go on/off when door light switch is released/depressed. Is problem still likely to be with switch, or more likely with bulb sockets?
For model number KSCS25INSS00

Hello John, Thank you for the question. This sounds like a power issue with the Electronic Control Board and it may need to be replaced. Before replacing, you can check the wire connection to the board and the switch to make sure everything is secure. We hope this helps!

This refrigerator is a French door with freezer below, the left side switch seems bad. When I open the left door, no light and no water (inside refridge) When I open the right door everything works. If I nudge the left switch forward, the light comes on. The switches are on top of the inside cabinet. Is this the correct switch also?

The lights on the left side stopped working a few years ago. Now only 2 of the lights on the right side are working, and they are on the side of the fridge (the lights on the right side ceiling of the fridge do not work). Does this sound like a light switch issue? Thanks!

My refrigerator has stopped cool the entire unit and at the same time I noticed that the door switch has been knocked out of place. Is it possible that the switch is now no longer functioning and needs to be replaced before the refrigerator will resume cooling?
For model number LXW18JETRW-1
PartSelect logo
Hi Michael, thank you for your inquiry. Based on our research, a refrigerator door switch controls the on/off function of the interior lights with the opening or closing of the door. It does not have an effect on cooling. To solve this issue, you may need to check the start relay, part number PS963826, as it is most likely faulty and may need to be replaced. Glad to be of assistance!

All the lights in the refrigerator and freezer aren't working. Would it be the light switch needing to be replaced? There are two (one on each side of the refrigerator) in the fridge. Would I need to replace both?
For model number KFIS29PBMS02
PartSelect logo
Hello Angela, Thank you for the question. If both the fridge and freezer light have stopped working at the same time, it could be an indication of a wiring issues or a defective LED Light Module. We hope this helps!
