Agitator was free spinning
Removed the center cover cap carefully on top of the agitator with a small screw driver. There are 3 (on mine) little slots around the edge of the bottom of the cap where it meets the agitator. Insert the small flat blade screwdriver and gently twist at each one till the cap pops loose and comes off.

There was a 10MM bolt under the cap on mine that you need to remove. I used an cordless impact driver but you could use a socket wrench as well. Remove the bolt and the agitator comes off. May take a little wiggling or it may come right off.

The teeth on the agitator were wore all the way down and gone on mine so it came off easy and this was the issue I had why it was spinning freely. I took the small flat blade screwdriver and used the edge and corner of the blade to clean the teeth on the shaft where the agitator attaches and wiped it down before installing the new part as there was quite a bit of metal shavings from the damaged part.

I just reversed the order of removal to install the new part. Took about 15 min. I ran a rinse and spin cycle to remove any additional metal shavings and to check to see if it all worked properly. THATS IT! TOO EASY!

Washer was noisy, made noise when agitating and spinning.
I had a hard time removing the agitator, had to get thin prybar to get a hold of washplate. After I removed washplate, I found that the shaft that the washplate attaches to was actually worn out. What used to be a spline was smooth. So I ordered a new clutch assembly. There are a lot of bolts that hold the clutch assembly on to the basket. There are a lot of videos on Utube that will walk you through step by step. The only problem I encountered with this was removing the nut that holds the basket to the tub. One video said it was reverse thread, which it wasn’t. You can check the thread on new clutch assembly to see which way is correct. After I put back together. Works like new.

Washer pulsator was coming loose during wash cycle.
Since the old pulsator had actually come off during a wash cycle, I was able to place the new one on easily. Tightened the screw with a socket. Then placed the new cap on. Before placing the new pulsator on, I was able to clean all the mold and hard deposits off the mechanism under the pulsator. The hard deposits were also scrapped from the pulsator holding (where the screw goes) which may have caused the problem to begin with.

The part called the wash plate came off in my machine and was lying sideways. I have tried putting it back on tight but it continues to come off. I bought 2 of these machines december 8, 2017. I am not happy this is giving problems already as i was told this was a great machine. Do you think the wash plate needs replacing or know why it won't stay on?
For model number wT7200C

Hello Barbara, thank you for your question. If the washplate won't stay attached we would recommend checking the shaft that comes up from under the tub to be sure the splines are not worn. If they are you would have to replace the clutch and shaft assembly part number PS7788161. If the splines on the shaft are fine, you will want to replace the following parts which include the washplate, washers, and nut that hold the wash plate to the shaft. Those parts are Screw,Customized Part Number: PS3534421, Washer,Common Part Number: PS3534424, NUT,COMMON Part Number: PS12368525, Washer,Common Part Number: PS3522866, and Pulsator Assembly Part Number: PS3532760. Good luck with your repair!

Hello - thanks for a great website. I have a lgwt7200cw and my agitator quit working. It does not stay attached to the shaft on the bottom of the motor/clutch. It appears that i need a new agitator plate, cap, screw, etc. I have looked up these parts but it appears that the parts numbers have changed. The assembly i believe i need is ps3640017 with the screw but this part seems to no longer be available. Please assist. thank you.

The round part in the bottom that looks like a hub cap(pulsator assembly part), came loose and was laying inside the washing machine. I put it back on and the pulsator spins but not the drum. What parts do i need, or is it worth fixing?
For model number WT4970CW

Hi Jackie, than you for your question. You may want to take a look at the underside of the pulsator itself and the parts underneath of the pulsator. Such as the nut and the clutch. It could be that those parts are all worn down. Whether it is worth it to replace parts would be up to you. Good luck with your repair.

I need the part #'s for the agitator plate the bolt the cap and also the washers for the bolt and for the bottom of plate. If the old bottom washer went to the pump what are chances it will tear something else up?
For model number Wt7200cw

Hello Darren, thank you for inquiring. For your model the Wash Plate (Pulsator Assembly) is part PS12588963 (this comes with the hardware for it), and the Pulsator Cap is part PS3525704. You may want to remove the old washer from the pump to avoid future issues. We hope this helps.

the washplate pulsator on the lg washing machine has plastic spline gears which have stripped off. The metal spline gears appear to be fine which mesh on the plate. There is a different gear assembly on the plate when ordering a new part.

Why is the wash plate full of dirt? How do you clean it out? The bottom plastic part does not seem to come off, and you can see it is full of dirt. Many of the holes are even clogged.
For model number WT7100CW
PartSelect logo
Hi Maria, thank you for asking. We have found that dirt and detergent can easily build up on the inside of and below the wash plate, causing clothes and the machine itself to smell, if not cleaned regularly. To clean the wash plate, you may need to run a normal cycle on a high fill level, with warm water, and a deep rinse. Add ¼ cup of detergent and 1 cup of bleach to the drum of the washer. After five minutes have passed in the cycle, open the lid and scrub the inside of the wash plate with a long-handled brush. After scrubbing the inside of the wash plate, let the washing machine finish the cycle. When the cycle drains, any debris will drain through the water line, and leave your washing machine and agitator sparkling. Leave the lid of the washing machine open to ensure that everything completely dries. Leaving the lid open after every wash cycle will also help prevent odors in the future. We hope this information is useful!
