Product Description
Suspension Rod Kit Specifications
This suspension rod kit is a genuine OEM replacement kit that is compatible with various models of washing machine. The kit is responsible for supporting the inner tub of the washing machine and absorbing any excessive vibrations and movement caused during the washing and spinning cycles. This helps to protect the tub and interior of the washer from damage. If the suspension rods in your washer are faulty, you will likely notice loud banging, knocking, or scraping sounds as the tub makes contact with the washer cabinet. Each kit includes four suspension rods and springs as well as the suspension ball cups. It is advised you replace all suspension rods at the same time, as they tend to wear at similar rates.

This was a very easy repair. The excellent video on the PartSelect site was a big help too.
The new suspension rods arrived quickly, were properly packaged and fit perfectly. The friction level of the spring cups was high, ensuring positive vibrational control. Everything went together without a hitch and the machine worked perfectly afterward. Overall, an excellent repair experience.

Easy repair
It's easy to install as the video says.
Although the symptoms have lessened, it's not completely fixed, and not as crazy as before, but my washing machine still won't stop dancing.

Repaired myself using a YouTube video
I received 4 new suspension rods for a washing machine that sounded like an airplane taking off. The repair took about 40 minutes or so following a YouTube video. The washing machine sounds like new again.

Fixed the problem.
Fast and effective. Repair was pretty straight forward. Hint, take the back off of the washing machine to do the rear two. Much easier. Do ONE AT A TIME. Use the hook on the first old one to lift the replacements back into seated position. The YouTube videos on this are helpful. ( Old parts were noticeably underperforming on the rebound test. )

Washer wobble during spin cycle.
Watched a video to get a general idea. Moved washer to garage. Raised lid, supported with s-hook and light chain. Front springs were easy, except no hole for the rod to hang in so used chain and small screwdriver through mounting hole. Back springs were not as easy. Finally removed the back panel to get to the rods. Bingo, much easier and only took 5 min to remove the back panel. reassemble and she works like a charm. Suggest to find a video reflecting your particular brand and model as all are similar but uniquely different. Easy project though.

Unbalanced washer
Unplugged, Removed rear screws
Pulled lid forward, and lifted, rested against wall
Removed rim piece, agitator, my wife cleaned them
Removed, replaced suspension rods one at a time, replaced plastic seats as I went
Removed old hub, cleaned and lubed gear and replaced, used a towel so screws did fall in the basin holes
Put back together
Used instructions to recalibrate
Tested it out, good to go
notes….the old parts don’t really appear damaged to the untrained eye, probably should send the bumper padding with this kit, the recal instructions were money!

The tub was horribly out of balance due to bad suspension rods.
I checked on-line to diagnose the problem, then I researched the parts needed to fix it. I also researched and watched a video on YouTube. Once I removed one of the old suspension rods I simply used the hooked end to grab the hooked end of the new rod and used a vice grip to pull it into place.

Off Balance, Shaking and noise during spin cycle
I followed the video instructions on the Part Select site. They were very good. I used the vise-grip to grab the rod and pull up to release the top hook. It is a little tight to get in there but doable.
A tip would be when installing the new rods, pre attach the vise grip. It makes it easier and you don't have to manipulate your hands as much. put them down far enough as the new rods are a bit harder to pull up.
The washer works great now and all symptoms are gone!

My Whirlpool washer shakes violently while spinning. Could the suspension rods need replacing if none are broken?
For model number WTW5000DW2
Hello Timothy, Thank you for your inquiry. There may be other damage to them, so we would recommend replacing them. We would also recommend checking the tub wear pads, the drive hub and the drive pulley. Also make sure that the leveling legs are evenly balanced and that the washer load is balanced and not overloaded. Hope this helps.

The washing machine still hits the sides of machine even after I replaced the suspension rods on my Whirlpool washer. Any suggestions what the problem might be? Thanks
Hi Stanley,
Thank you for contacting us regarding this situation. If the tub in your washer is still hitting the sides of the washer, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the suspension rod supports, the drive pulley and the belt. I hope this helps.
