Easy fix
Part needs to be spliced in as it does not come with connector. Hoping this one lasts. The previous part worked for about a month then failed.

Works a described easy replacement
Part was simple to install.removed old part and spliced to existing wiring. At first it appeared to malfunction but after resetting the controller it fired up right away and controller setting became stable.Original may have been defective from start because the freezer is dry and cold and fridge is quiet than when purchased new originally.Highly recommend this part.Saved a bundle on repairs.

Freezer cold, refrigerator warm
Simply cut wires from old bi metal and joined to new part with wire nuts. Simple repair, but it did not correct the problem.

Making ice in the bottom of the freezer even with water to ice maker turned off.
For model number M1TXEGMYW01
Hi Raul, thank you for your question. When you are having temperature problems in your fridge, there are a few parts that could cause the issue. You can use a multi meter to test most of the parts. Make sure you cut power to your appliance before doing any repairs or tests. First you should test your defrost thermostat. Place the thermostat in ice cold water for 2-3 minutes after removing it from your appliance. It should be reading 0 ohms to be working correctly. Another part to check would be your defrost heater. Remove it from the appliance. It should be reading anywhere between 0 - 50 ohms to be working. You could check your temperature sensor. To find the correct reading for this part you will have to refer to your tech sheet that comes with your appliance. You can usually find this tech sheet behind the bottom grille of your fridge on either the right or left side. These are the most common parts that cause this issue in your appliance. So it is suggested you check them first. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Where is the thermostat located on this model? Thank you!
For model number Mrt118fffe01
Hello Doreen and thanks for writing.
In freezer-on-top models, it may be located under the floor of the unit, or it could be found at the back of the freezer. If you have a side-by-side refrigerator, the defrost thermostat is found at the back of the freezer side. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime

The refrigerator stopped cooling below 45 deg after a 3 hr power outage. The freezer was still cooling to 10 degrees just fine. The fan in the freezer works ok. I removed the back panel inside the freezer and found that the coils were iced over. I thawed them out and the freezer and refrigerator are cooling ok. I can tell that the defrost cycle in kicking in ever so often because the refrigerator cuts off for a while and restarts later. What do you think?
For model number M1TXEGMYW00
Hello Kelly, Thank you for the question. With a Power Outage, it can damage the Control Board. This board controls the appliance and the functions such as the defrost cycle and the cooling.
