dishwasher not draining after wash cycle
Caviat: The actual repair is less than 15 minutes, but I spent a lot of time playing with it before I figured out it was that easy and fast. You don't need to remove the dishwasher from the counter to do this. And it will probably help to look at the new part closely so you can understand where the retainer clip is to press it and release the old pump.

First remove the water from the dishwasher pan that would not drain with a wet/dry vac. Otherwise the water will all drain on the floor when you remove the pump. Then remove the two screws on the kickplate on the front of the unit below the door. Remove the kickplate/maintainence access cover. The drain pump is on the right about 8 inches in. Using two hands you grasp the drain pump with your right hand and use the left hand to push the retaining clip down. Then the drain pump will rotate 1/4 turn counterclockwise and can be removed without pulling the dishwasher out. There is likely to be some water leak out that was traped in the pump housing that you can not reach with the vac. Disconnect the wire. Connect the wire to the new pump, put it in place and 1/4 turn clockwise to install it. Replace the kickplate and you're done.

After a loud noise the dishwasher quit and would only buzz when the main motor was supposed to be running.
Primarily, I read the instructions on line and watched the great videos explaining the repair. While the DW was out, I decided to change out the Drain Pump and the Chopper Assembly, even though only the Circulation Pump and Motor was my problem. These three items are the primary mechanical wear components and it made sense to me to replace these items. Perhaps I'll get another 10 years out of the DW. Two notes about the repairs. If you replace the chopper it isn't clear in the video where exactly it fits into the housing as the video mechanic did a great job of blocking the view of this part of the procedure. It took me awhile to figure out the chopper screen didn't go in the narrow trough, but just outside of that trough. Also, to lubricate the gaskets when putting the motor and the drain pump back in, I use a light coating of petroleum jelly. It is a good lubricant to facilitate the insertion of the both pumps. The pumps slid in easily and there were no leaks when I test ran the DW outside of the cabinetry. If you have a modicum of mechanical ability this job is a very simple, straight forward process. Good Luck!

Drain Pump was giving off a burning smell. When I pulled the dishwasher out it had some light smoke coming from the Drain Pump
Shut the power to the dishwasher off. Pulled unit out from under the counter top and raised the left hand side up for easy access. Disconnected the wiring, undid the clips, turned counter clockwise and removed. Reversed the order for installation and Connected the power. Ran several cycles successfully. Problem fixed. Burnt out water pump. Good as new if not better so far. Easy item search, Fast Shipping, Quality Part, Fair Pricing. Thank You Partselect.com

Dishwasher wasn’t draining
1.Check the lines for any obstruction. Gunk can easily build up. I have used the dishwasher for approx. 10 years. I do rinse/scrap dishes prior to loading.
2. Drain all remaining water.
3. Unplug the dishwasher.
4. Grab a towel and proper screw driver. Unscrew the bottom protective plate. Remove the insulation plate.
5. The drain pump is located to the bottom left. Have your towel under it. Unplug it gently. Turn counter clockwise to remove.
6. Install the new drain pump (reverse order)
7. Return the insulation plate. Screw back the bottom protective plate.
8. Plug in

drain pump noisy, broken piece of glass caught in pump.
removed kick panel with screwdriver, 90 degree turn of screw. Put towel under drain pump. Disconnect drain hose by loosening spring clip with pliers to provide access to pump. released spring clip on old motor while turning counterclockwise to separate pump from drain reservoir. inspect drain reservoir from inside machine to remove any foreign objects. Installed new pump by indexing attachment flanges to notches in reservoir and turning pump clockwise until locking tab makes audible click. reattach drain hose insuring hose is contacting "stop" ribs on drain hose pipe. Run wash cycle on machine to insure there are no leaks. Re-attached kick panel.

Having trouble with the dishwasher draining. I replaced the drain pump 30 days ago and it worked fine. Now i have the same issue, it will not drain. It will drain if you "force" it to drain by holding down the start button for 3 seconds, but you have to repeat that 4 times to get it to fully drain. Any thoughts?

Hi Doug, Thank you for your question. There are a few parts that could cause the issue. It seems like your problem is that it will not drain automatically. I would suggest checking your door latch switches just to make sure they are working. If they are not the machine may think the door is open and will not go into the automatic drain cycle. However, if that part is working then it may be your control board that is the issue. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Should the sump be drained completely at the end of the full cycle? When our dishwasher is done there is an inch or so of water in the bottom of the sump. Thank you!
For model number 66513403N412

Hello Rick, thank you for your question. The If there is water left over at the end of the cycle, I would suggest checking the water inlet valve to be sure its not leaking into the unit, the float switch and the drain pump itself. Also check the drain hose, to be sure there are no blockages preventing all the water from being pushed out of the unit. I hope this helps!

After replacing the drain pump motor on my Kitchenaid dishwasher it still will not drain. Do you have any suggestions?
For model number KUDC20CVSS0
PartSelect logo
Hello Kristin, Thanks for your question. It may be worth checking the motor and pump assembly and seeing if there is any blockage in the drain line. If the motor does not run during the drain cycle, or if it simply hums instead of running, it may need to be replaced. Also check the drain hoses to see if they are clogged. Lastly, look at the sump pump check valve. If it is stuck closed it will keep the water from draining. Clean that out and replace it if it is necessary. I hope this helps.

The drain pump was replaced 2 years ago. Bit by bit, the dishwasher has not been draining totally. It has become so bad that it needs to be pumped 10 or more times before it is totally drained. We have checked the pump that was replaced and it appears fine. We have checked all of the lines from the food disposer, no obstructions or kinks. What should be the next move?Thank you.

Hello Karen, thank you for inquiring. For this symptom, besides the Drain Pump part PS11753379, you may want to replace either the Drain Hose part PS2358130, the Filter part PS11759673, or the Turbidity Sensor part PS11757214. We hope this helps.

The dishwasher has a small amount of visible water remaining around the drain after the washer is run. Do you think the drain pump is bad or is there something else to trouble shoot?
For model number KUDS03FTSS1
PartSelect logo
Hi Buddy, Thank you for your inquiry. If the dishwasher is not draining the drain pump is just one part you will need to check. There are some other parts that you will need to check also to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the sump pump check valve, the drain hose, the water inlet valve, the chopper assembly, the bi metal fuse, the circulation pump and motor, the float switch and the turbidity sensor. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Hi, my dishwasher is not draining; after all cycles are finished, there is still water at the bottom of the dishwasher. Other symptom: Sometimes, the clean led would blink 7 times, then repeats; so i have to reset the dishwasher. Also the dishes are not very clean at the end of all cycles; i would say half clean only. I first ordered from you and replaced the drain pump but problem was still there. Then the clean led blinking 7 times was pointing to a heating problem so i replaced the bi-metal fuse and heating elements. But problem is still there. I could notice during washing cycle that it would stop for a long time doing nothing. Anything else i could check? I am out of ideas and about to replace the whole thing after spending time and money on parts.

Hello Sylvain, Thank you for the question. I suggest checking the Turbidity Sensor, PartSelect Number PS11757214. If you disconnect power from the dishwasher, you can test the turbidity sensor at connection P12 of the control board. From pin 1 to pin 3, you should get a resistance reading between 46 to 52 K Ohms. If the resistance is not within this range, then you will need to replace the sensor. Hope this helps!

I think it may be the solenoid on the pump, there's a clicking sound that comes from the pump .I remove the hose an inspected the the impeller on the pump its fine and it turns . Cleaned the strainer and check the check valve thanks
For model number KUDS35FXSS2

Hi Robert, Thank you for contacting us. If you are getting a clicking noise from the drain pump it maybe that the the electronic control board is not send the proper voltage to it. I would use a multimeter to check the continuity of both parts to see which one is causing the issue. I hope this helps with the repair.

Everything seems to be working fine, but the dishes come out smelly. The odor from the steam and open door is very smelly. What will help this problem?
For model number DU1345XTVQ0
PartSelect logo
Hi Sandra, Thank you for your question. It could be your drain pump. I would actually suggest getting some dishwasher cleaner and running it through a cycle in your machine. You may also want to check the water hose that is coming from your house to the appliance. I would say try those things first, maybe go through a couple of cleaning cycles with a dishwasher cleaner. Finish is usually a very good brand. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.
