Ice maker is not making ice. Water line seems to be ok because i do receive water on door dispenser. It us close to 15 years old. Can it be the motor.
For model number Kss42qmboo
Hello Jim, thank you for your question. If no water is entering the ice maker it could be the water valve, even though it is sending water to the dispenser. I would recommend testing the water valve to verify if the part is bad. You can test the valve with a multimeter. Different valves will test differently but if you have a reading of infinity on the prongs you test the valve should be replaced. The other parts that could be faulty are the Icemaker Control Assembly Part Number: W10190935, or the Emitter and Receiver Boards Part Number: W10757851. You can take a glass of water (enough to fill the ice maker tray) and pour it into the ice maker and wait to see if it makes ice. If no ice is made then you have a problem with the ice maker. If it does make ice then the valve might not be opening up and sending water to the ice maker. You can also check the water filter. Make sure it has been replaced within the last 6 months. If it becomes clogged or old it can prevent the ice maker from making ice. I hope this helps!
