The part arrived in just a few days. It was easy to replace the flow switch however it did not fix the problem. Still had the FH error code. Cleaned the water inlets one more time, even removed and tested the hot and cold solenoids. Also checked the level (pressure) switch by blowing into the switch before the error code time out. This sent the test sequence into the next step. Blow out the pressure line into the tub. Changed the flow switch several times between as I was running out of options. Low and behold just as I was going to give up ..... it worked. As luck would have it it is running with the old flow switch in place. Do not know what went wrong. I now have a spare flow switch in my tool kit. I wish I could test the flow switch electrically but I do not know how?

washing machine giving f20 error code
removed washer top, checked supply hoses and inlet valve to make sure not clogged, replaced valve and while already there replaced flowmeter, reinstall top and hoses and checked machine operation, machine working fine and wife thinks i am her hero
Removed the top (3-4 screws at back). Flowmeter has 2 hoses with hose clamps. Removed with plyers. Simple electrical connector removed.
Reversed procedure. Running perfect now.
How did I know it was the flow-meter? Read the service manual as possible causes to narrow it down. Disassembled old flowmeter and cleaned. That fixed for awhile. Problem came back, could 'tap' on flowmeter to temporarily fix. This convinced me that was indeed the problem.
The flowmeter is just a simple vane that moves as water flows across it, and sends pulses each time it rotates. If it 'sticks' then the computer doesn't think any water is coming in - hence the error. Tapping on it would 'unstick' long enough to confirm problem.

Two problems- Error code FH, Water filling drum when washer off
The Part Select website has some great information provided by customers. I search my error code problem that shut down the washer when filling and found the most likely scenario was a faulty flowmeter. The other problem happening at the same time was the drum filling with water when the appliance was not in use. I thought the two problems were related, but upon further research decided that the most likely cause was a faulty water inlet valve. I order the parts from Part Select and I could not believe how fast the shipping was. I just ordered regular ground but the parts got here in a couple of days. The repair was easy. Remove four screws (need a star bit) from the top lid of the washer and remove the cover. The flowmeter and the water inlet valve sit right on top of the washer. Even with the lousy set of pliers I used, removing the clamps and disconnecting the hoses on both parts was easy off and easy back on. I had more trouble with the electrical leads on the water inlet, only because they were on so securely and I didn't want to rip out the wiring. All together the repair for both parts took about 30 minutes. Make sure you turn off the water supply and be ready to mop up a little excess water from the water supply lines when you disconnect them from the washer's water inlet valve.
remove 3 screws of top panel at rear. slide top to rear 1/2 inch and lift up. disconnect wire to flometer, remove clamps on hoses and remove, reverse to install. did not fix problem. ck'd screens at fill valves. ordered new fill valves--problem solved. solenoids must not have been opening up all the way.

Washer was giving F20 F35 and SUDS error messages
After replacing the Water Inlet Valve and Flowmeter the F20 error message stopped. However, after ordering and replacing the Water Pressure Sensor the F35 error message and the SUDS error message stopped and the washer is finally working.
This washer had been faulting since it was 1 year old but it only happened 1 to 2 times a year. As the fault problem became more often, I realized it was a hardware or computer malfunction. But what was the problem? Well the problem always was a faulty flow meter. I replace the valve and the flow meter. But I tested the flow meter several times.-- I replaced the flow meter and the valve. And for once in 5 years it did not fault.
Serviceman had previously replaced the hot and cold inlet valves, but the low pressure error persisted. Rather than cough up another $130 for the serviceman to return, plus parts and time, I decided to order the replacement flowmeter from PartSelect.
Unplug power and turn off water. Top of machine comes off by removing three screws at top rear; use socket, spanner or T20 driver. Unplug electric sensor from flowmeter. Old unit is removed, and new one connected to water line by squeezing spring-clips with a pair of flat nose pliers. Reconnect electric sensor.
Great move, easy, and saved myself the thick end of $200.

error F28 in mid cycle
check error code : no water flow pulled hoses [hot& cold] to clean screen in line. pulled flow meter out from under top of hood to clean and check free wheel movement inside. still error code F28 in mid wash cycle. called in and talk with service: he explained that hot& cold water valve was opening to slow or not enough for flow meter to read full presure. I replace water valve and flow meter. washer is doing fine. [I was getting readly to go in futher down the line and get new controler. talking to service stop me from spending a lot of money. THANK YOU
Brother who used to sell appliances opened the washer door and read the booklet inside the washer telling him the part necessary to repair the problem. $33/00 for the water flow meter Part and shipped in next morning and arrived overnight. Excellent service for only $7.00 shipping. Highly recommend this place for parts. This was after a couple of days searching the internet for those with the same problem and not receiving and exact part to fix the problem

F-20 Error Code
Take off top of washer and the flowmeter is in the back lefthand corner on the top of the washer. Replaced the water level switch on the top righthand of the machine also. Got about 150. 00 Total invested w/service call from local tech. F-20 has not came back yet. I hoped it fixed it washer is only 3 yrs. Old. -Gd

I get the f20 on small cycle and big cycle.Its seems to be ok on the reg cycle.On the small load cycle it shuts off and i get the f20 code and water is still in the drum.Will the flow meter cause this problem as well? Thanks
Hi Ken,
Thank you for your inquiry. The F20 error code is no water detect error. It means you either have very little water coming into the washer or no water is coming into the washer. In this situation where there is water coming into the washer it may be a siphoning issue. You will need to check the following: You will need to see if the hoses have any obstructions preventing the proper flow of water.
You will need to check the drain pump to see if it is working correctly. You will also need to check the wiring connections to the electronic control board, the water inlet valve, the pump and the pressure switch. I hope this helps with the repair. Thank you and have a great day!

Why does the machine give me a f20 code and shuts off only in the small load and large loads and works great in the reg wash load.

Thank you for your inquiry. The F20 error code means that you have a water supply issue. Press pause/cancel 2 times and if that does not clear the error code from your appliance you should check your inlet hoses to see if they are bent or damaged in any way. If everything on the outside of your machine is fine. You should check your water inlet valve for any damage and also test it with a multi-meter to see if it is the problem. Good luck.

Hi i have this Maytag and when i turn it on the water gushes out of the flowmeter wpw10110225 from the bottom of the unit i changed the flowmeter and installed a new one and i am still having the same problem what else could this be do you think the second flowmeter i got is bad as well.

Water seeps into tub when it is turn off. Could this be the water inlet valve is not completely closing?

When facing the washer from the front, I would notice that fabric softener was leaking from the bottom left-hand side of the washer. I proceeded to clean out my clogged drain filter, swapped out the hot and cold washing machine hoses and also for good measure replaced the outer drain hose and it seemed to have fixed my issues for a little while.
However, I recently ran a Clean Washer with affresh cycle and right before the machine started to drain, the tub was FULL of detergent and I noticed that the bottom left hand corner was leaking again and I also noticed that the top left hand side of the washer, where you see those multiple holes on the back metal plate, also started to leak soap from those holes.
Can my problem be this flow meter? I would like your expertise advice before proceeding with this repair.

Hi Steve, thank you for contacting us. Based on our understanding of the issue, we would suggest checking the flowmeter, part number PS11748313, to fix the issue. This part continually measures the amount of water entering the tub. It will make adjustments if too much or too little water is present. If this is faulty, the dispenser will fill with too much water, causing the softener or detergent to leak. We hope this sorts out your problem!

I have a Whirlpool wfw96heaco washer and it will not flush the fabric softener into the tub? I have run ohms test on all components but this, could this possibly be the problem? Not enough water pressure to get it through the dispenser tub??? any help would be much appreciated!!

I'm getting the f20 error code and I checked the water inline and it have plenty of pressure. I turn the washer on and it starts to fill I even see water flowing into the drum. Do you think the flow meter would fix this issue?

Hello Andrew, Thank you for the question. F20 Error Code. Whirlpool error code F20 appears when no water is detected entering the machine or if the pressure switch trip is not detected. If you still have watyer you may need a new switch, PartSelect Number PS11754448. Hope this helps!

Control panel lights up, after you press the start button door locks but no water enters the machine the voltage at the water valves is only 10 volts does this sound like a main control board problem? While watching the voltage reading at the water valves it's cycles several times with the consistent reading of only 10 volts
