Broken latch made dishwasher difficult to open
This very easy repair made the appliance usable again.
First, turn off power to the unit (wall switch, in my case, may be a breaker in your case, just to be safe).
Simply removed all of the torx screwdrivers (I think I used torx driver bit #27, maybe #26, found in most security screwdriver bit sets).
Had to remove all the screws on both sides and along the top of the interior metal cover of the dishwasher door.
Once those were removed, worked the inner half of the door loose from the outer part (it did not have to come all the way off, just held it apart long enough to do the repair).
Then found the broken parts that had fallen in and remove them, then gently worked the latch assembly loose from the front panel and found the only way that the replacement part would fit, with the two small hinge points that snapped it into place on the latch assembly.
Replaced the latch assembly and moved the metal panel back into place, lining up the screw holes, started the two screws that go into the latch assembly itself and then a couple of screws on the sides to hold the panels together.
You can move the metal panel to position it just right before tightening any of the screws down all the way. I started with the two middle screws that held the latch assembly and then added all the rest, tightening them all loosely at first and then adjusting the fit before alternating sides to tighten them all firmly.
Latch works fine now.

Latch Assembly broken as well s panel control
I removed the screws from the inside of the door
I removed the existing Control panel (carefully) because the circuit board was also attached here.
I installed the new latch assembly on the new control panel.
I reattached the circuit board and reinstalled all of the screws - now it works great!

Everything for under $100 and less than 30 minutes! Thanks for the parts!

part of the Door Latch Handle snapped off
removed screws from inside plate of dishwasher door. The assembly was hanging free (not clipped to the door). the old handle was easily removed, and the new one was clipped onto the assembly and put back into place. The screws were then replaced.

We had been noticing that the door was becoming increasingly more difficult to open. Extra force was needed. (that's probably why the handle broke in the first place). After the repair, the door opens much more easily.

This was probably the easiest repair we had ever had to do. Not only does the door operate much more smoothly, but we saved the cost of a service call.

door latch broke making opening difficult.
1. Removed 4 screws holding latch and controls module to the door.

2. Went back to your site to check how to get the control module to come loose from the door. I gave it a good upward hit with my hand and it came off. There was wiring that prevented the module from coming completely free. But there was enough room to get to the latch.

3. Used a screwdriver to fish out the broken latch parts.

4. Inserted the new latch and gave it a tap to spring the pivot pins into place.

5. Replaced the 4 screws that hold the latch and control module to the door. Job done.

plastic latch broke off so the door would not lock when washing the dishes
Removed the inside door panel. Had to borrow a friends power screwdriver with a star shaped bit to do this. Removed old latch and inserted new one catching the prongs so they could now lock and unlock by pulling up on the latch. rescrewed the inside door back and all was done.

The dishwasher door handle had become increasingly difficult to open and then would not work at all.
First, I turned off the power to the dishwasher at the main box. Then I removed the 10 screws holding the interior stainless steal cover to the door. I removed the broken handle and the broken piece from the door. I snapped the new handle in place and replaced the 10 screws before turning on the power.

This was the easiest repair job I've done and it saved me at least $100 dollars in labor.

Thanks to all who have submited their stories. Great help!

Dishwasher wont turn on. Difficult to open
It has been a while since I replaced the handle so I may miss some steps but it was easy to do.

To change the Handle. Turn off the power. Open the front door and undo the torx screws from around the door. Lift up the panel. Remove the broken handle and lugs and insert the new handle.(Their may have been a couple of screws on the latching mechanism that had too be removed to replace the handle)

After replacing the handle the door would open and shut like a new one but the dishwasher still would not turn on. On further inspection I found a fractured joint on a relay on the control board . Resoldered it and it is working great.

The delivery of the part from Parts Select was great,I got the part next day in California.
