Washer would not run, lid switch broken
Repair was easy. Removed two side panels on the control plate. Removed two phillips screws that hold the control panel to the body of the washer. Disconnected the electic connection to the wires leading to the lid switch. Three sided of the lower cover lift over and removed from the washer frame. Access to the lid switch and wire retainers was easy. Removed two screws holding the remaining parts of the switch and replaced with new. Re-routed the wires through the retainers. Set the sides back on making sure the set all the way back in the frame and fit properly into the plastic strips on the back of the washer. Reconnected wires, screws and end caps.

Top part of agitator (auger) was not turning
Using kit 285587 was straight forward. Removed fabric softener dispenser & sealing cap. It took more time to find the socket set (needed a 7/16 socket) with a long driver (10 inch) than to unscrew & remove the auger & agitator.
Cleaned up the bowl whilst it was apart (good buildup of junk under the agitator). Replaced agitator, new thrust washer to find that grease should be applied but isn't included in kit (get part not 350849). Grrr.... Applied new auger, cam, dogs and holder. (No instructions in kit for assembling cam, dogs & holder, but you can work it out ok). Applied new bolt & washer, new seal on cap. Installed fabric softener. Could have been a 15 minute job but peace and quiet in the garage makes it worthy of taking longer ;-)

broken timer knob and lid bumper
the timer knob shaft must be held in place from spinning while the knob hub is removed, simply grasp the shaft with needle nose pliers below whats left of the hub and with another pair of pliers grasp what is left of the knob hub and rotate counter clockwise, once it is broken free it should spin right off. Reverse this process to install the new timer knob.
Installing the lid bumper is simple just pull out the old bumper with needle nose pliers and start the new bumper in from the bottom of the lid and work bumper until the bumper clears the hole in the lid, you may need a small flat screwdriver to work it in gently as not damage the finnish or the bumper when you clear the thicker part of the bumper flange it will lock right into the lid.

Why does my washer make so much noise during the spin cycle? When spinning it sounds like the drum is hitting against the cabinet. Also, when I move the drum by hand it seems loose to me. I checked the insides and everything seems to be where it belongs. Any solutions?

Hi Brian, Thank you for your question. If the drum is sounds like it is banging against the cabinet during the spin cycle and it seems loose when you turn it by hand, the issue could be the drive belt. It is either loose, not positioned correctly on the pulley or it is worn out. You should also also check the pulley to see if it is worn or loose as well. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Hello Robert, Thank you for the question. I suggest testing the Washing Machine Door Lock Assembly PartSelect Number PS12704713. If defective it may not pick up the lid is closed and preventing it from spinning. Hope this helps!

It is extremely noisy when going into the spin cycle after a wash or a rinse. The washer is so noisy, that I have to wear hearing protection when entering the laundry room.

Hi Lawrence, Thank you for your question. If the washer is noisy going into the spin cycle, you may have to check the suspension rods to see if they worn or damaged. If they are, you will need to replace them. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
