Wanted to change beige dishwasher front to black.
First , I went outside and turned the breaker for the dishwasher off. Next,I removed the screws that held the bottom 2 pieces, that rest on the floo,r in place. Then removed the two beige metal pcs. . Next I replaced them with the 2 black pieces I had ordered and secured them with the 2 black screws I had received as part of my order. Then I removed the scews from the inside of the door of my KitchenAid Dishwasher. This released both the front bottom panel and the control panel. . I took the beige bottom door panel off and moved the insulation piece from the back of thebeige panel to the back of the black panel. Then I intalled the new black panel I ordered and resecured it with two screws until I had finished with the control panel switch out.
I had to unplug an electronic tape from the inside of the beige control panel and plug the same tape back into the black control panel. I also had to remove the beige handle that was on the inside of the control panel, attached to the door, and replace it with the new black one I'd received. I then installed the black control panel and reattached it with screws and finished replacing the rest of the screws I had removed from the inside of the door.
I tested the handle to make sure it opened the door and locked it like it should and then went outside and turned the breaker back on. Came in and turned on the dishwasher and did a load of dishes. It looks awesome, matches the rest of my black appliances and I am very proud to have done it myself. I also wanted to thank the customer service lady who was so great to work with on the phone. I would shop with you again.

touch pad not activating
Problelm had been diagnosed by repairman but he said with labor and materials it wasn't worth fixing. Wasn't about to replace dishwasher since I'm planning on a total kitchen doover in 3-5 years.

Turned off power to dishwasher at box. Used star tip screwdriver bit to remove 6 screws on inside of control panel. Electrical ribbon disconnected from electric assembly and electric assembly popped out of control panel, door latch component then removed from its housing.
Electric adssembly and door latch components put back in proper place on new control panel and electric ribbon connected. Made sure door latch worked properly, turned power back on and ran a "light" load of just a few plates and glasses. Works fine now!!!
Only "difficulty" was balancing the control panel and the electronic components still wired to the dishwasher--didn't want to drop it, so either have a second set of hands or something to balance it on--I used the cabinet door of the cabinet next to the dishwasher.

control panel had two green lights flashing and machine would not work.
Opened the front door and tipped it back part way. Removed the 6 torx screws which secured the control panel to the door, being careful not to disturb the rubber gasket between it and the door. Removed the control panel just far enough away from the door to gain access to the components beneath the control panel. Unsnapped the circuit board from the 2 plastic hook latch extensions to gain access to the plug for the ribbon cable. Lifted the door latch assembly away when the circuit board was released. Unplugged ribbon cable from control panel to circuit board. Completely removed the control panel and installed the new one, along with the parts which were removed in reverse order. Wiped the door gasket with a wet paper towel to insure a water vapor tight seal for the new control panel to the door. Secured the new control panel with the 6 torx screws in a staggered order to insure an even and secure seal between the door and the new control panel. Opened and closed the door several times and made it latch securely each time it was closed. Cleaned door gasket with vinegar/water solution and rinsed clean with water filled spray bottle. Dried gasket with a paper towel. Put dishwasher on the scrub/hot rinse/dry cycle and added a half cup of vinegar to the tub when it was filled for the wash cycle. When completed the final rinse cycle, I stopped the machine from going into the dry cycle so I could start over with a load of dishes and with soap in the tray. Checked the operation; worked great. This dishwasher has a stainless steel tub and the only other repair I made was about 10 years ago to replace the pump. That was not the fault of the pump, but mine because I neglected to remove lime scale which had built up inside the rubber drain hose at the anti-siphon bend at the top of the hose. The blockage caused the pump impeller to wear out. I`ll not allow that to happen again. They don`t make appliances this good anymore. Today is a throw away culture. As long as parts are made for this dishwasher I`ll continue to repair it. It is a workhorse at 21 years old, and I believe I`ll get another 10 years out of it anyway. BTW, I`m a retired HVAC tech with 50 years experience with many more things besides heat and air conditioning, so it may take a little longer for others to do this repair.

Hello Tim, Thank you for contacting us. If only some buttons are faulty you should be able to replace just the panel. Hope this helps!

Dishwasher will not wash, (seems to be no power to the "start" button), all other controls on the panel light up when pressed. The drain button will start the drain cycle but does not shut off. The fuse tested good.

Hello and thank you for writing. It certainly sounds like it could be a faulty door switch PS11745501 and/or possibly a malfunctioning high limit thermostat PS11743423 you should check the part(s) for signs of damage or test with a multimeter, and replace the part(s) as needed. If that all checks out ok you will have to consider replacing the control panel assembly. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime if you require further assistance.

I have this unit. Is there 2 different parts, one on the exterior and one in the interior. The touch pad works sometimes. The end button always works and will run the 2 minuet empty cycle. Past that most of the rest of the buttons work intermittently. The middle 2 used to reset the unit, the second button always lights up. Is the part# wp8270226 the corset one to fix this issue. There is a price difference between your cost and the Whirlpool co.

Hello Tim, Thank you for the question. In most cases if some buttons work and others do not, you need to replace the Kaypad/Control Panel part, PartSelect Number PS11745535. The control board on the inside is PartSelect Number PS650837 and if some buttons work then it should be fine. Hope this helps!
