Product Description

Range Infinite Burner Switch - 8 Inch Specifications

This infinite switch for eight inch range burners is almost three inches long. This infinite switch is for 8-inch range burners. When an element is unable to produce any heat on a modern oven, the problem may lie with the infinite switch. This switch is responsible for sending power to the surface elements. Check the element and terminal block to ensure they are working properly. If they are in working order, check the infinite switch at the control panel for any wires that have overheated, or broken terminals to or from the infinite switch. If the infinite switch is damaged or malfunctioning, it will need to be replaced. Remember to unplug your range before beginning this repair.

installed new switches and elements
just move one wire at a time. Each switch has 5 wires and I am sure mixing them would not be good.

Ordered parts, they shipped same day. Arrived exactly as predicted. Totally non-stress. Can't find a thing to complain about.

Surface element light on when all are off.
I raised the stove top to verify with a volt meter that electricity was truely going to the elements and which ones were receiving current. I removed the back panels to gain access to the controls and wiring. After checking the circuitry with the volt meter I determined that one of the thermostatic controls was defective. I ordered a new control and 8" burner (which showed signs of deterioration) from PartSelect and received them the next afternoon. It took less than an hour to reassemble.

Front 8" burner stuck on high no matter where dial was set.
This range was easy. Only 4 screws under the front panel that allows the panel to come off. No need to pull the range out for back screws.

Replacement part was exact and worked perfect.

Turn off the circuit breaker for the range.

Remove the 4 screws under the front panel, one on each end and one one each side of the display/control panel.

Pull the bottom of the front panel out about 30 degrees and lift off the top.

Once panel is off pull of the dial knob, remove the two screws for the control and swap wires on at a time with the new one.. Reverse the procedure and all is good. You may need to use needle nosed pliers on the spade connectors if they are too tight to pull off by hand.

Our 8 inch burner heats ok but at times will go to full heat and no control unless you turn the knob off. Is this the limiter causing it to overheat?
For model number MER5752BAQ
PartSelect logo
Hi Curtis, Thank you for the question. Sounds like you will need to test the limiter on the element. To test the limiter with a multi meter, you will test from 1a to 2a and at room temp there should be continuity. If there is no continuity the element is defective. If it tests good then you will need to replace the switch that controls the element. Hope this helps!

RF 8" burner goes full hot at times. Sometimes a click and cools off other times you have to turn burner off and start over. Sometimes works fine. Is this the Infinite Limit or the switch that controls the element. If it is the switch I don't see it in the parts list (but do see in schematic).
For model number AER5712BAZ

Indicator light remains on after burner switch is turned off, which switch needs to be replaced 8" or 6" switch?
For model number MER6769BAW
PartSelect logo
Hi Samuel, Thank you for your inquiry. First, disconnect power form your appliance when doing any repairs. On the side that the light is on, both your switches have a "P" terminal. Be very careful when doing this. Unplug the wire from the "P" terminal from one of your switches and see if that turns the light off. If the light stays on you will know that you have to replace the switch your did not unplug. If the light shuts off, you will know that the switch you have to replace is the one you unplugged. If you feel that you are unable to do this repair, I would recommend contacting an appliance repair technician to help you out. Good luck with your repair.

I have a 6" burner that burned out, so i replaced it. The new burner would only give me high or off. Thinking the part bad, i replaced it with another burner, but with the same results! Now i'm thinking the infinite switch or whatever. I don't have schematics for the stove.
For model number mer6872baw

Hello Larry, Thank you for your inquiry. It could be the switch, the 6 inch switch is part# WP7403P238-60, you can test it with a multimeter to see if it has continuity. It could also be the wiring as well, so check the wires for any visible damage. Hope this helps!

The front right 8" element is out of control, from high heat to low or medium without touching the dial. I see wires running from the 8" to the 6" infinite switch and each have different part numbers. The 8" 7403p669-60 and the 6" 7403p373-60 which should be replace? The 8" switch in my range is blue and the 6" white. If not a Jenn-Air part, is there another brand that can replace it? I'll appreciate your help!
For model number JER8855BAS
PartSelect logo
Hi Jose, Thank you for your question. For an 8" element, you would have to replace the 8" switch. You would not be able to properly run that element with a 6" switch. I hope that clears this up for you. Good luck with your repair.

I have changed the switch of the 8" burner of a Maytag range ( i don't know the model number, but i found "part no. 8119p316 60" on the control circuit diagram of the range. Is it helpful )then i found it doesn't produce enough heat like before. This happened could it be because i installed the switch of 6" burner instead of the switch of 8" burner. If this is not the case, how can i fix it.

Hello Anh and thanks for writing. If this the correct switch does not improve the symptom you might have to replace the elements themselves. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime.
