Product Description

Suspension Spring Specifications

The suspension spring supports the outer tub and keeps the tub steady during loads that could cause an unbalance. If this part breaks, is worn down or has stretched out and lost its spring, it could cause the load to be off-balance which can lead to excessive shaking, moving, noise, and leaks. For this repair, you will need a 1/4 nut driver, a putty knife, a flat blade screwdriver, and a pair of needle-nose pliers. Disconnect the power supply, fill hoses, and drain hose to give you safe and easy access (have a container nearby for water left in drain hose). This item is sold individually, which is important as you may need to repair multiple springs in your appliance, which carries three suspension springs. As an inexpensive part, we recommend purchasing several at a time, as they can be very useful to have on-hand.

Washer tub slammed into washer body during spin cycle
If you load a washing machine unevenly, it will spin out of balance. But our washer seemed to make noise during the spin cycle regardless of how the load was distributed. I suspected that the suspension or balancing springs were getting tired, and ordered a replacement set.

First I disconnected the washer from the water and power supply, then I laid it on its back.

The tub rested on the back of the washer, making two of the three suspension springs relax, and they were pretty easy to pull out with pliers. After the first two were out, I had to support the tub with a couple 2x4s to relax the third suspension spring.

Installation was the reverse of removal - install the lower suspension spring, remove the 2x4s, then install the two other suspension springs.

The tub balancing spring was easy to replace, and probably wasn't the cause of the problem.

With $25 in parts and about 15 minutes, my washer spins much more quietly.

Machine rocking about like crazy on spin
Took some online research to figure out how to get the cabinet off. Once inside I fitted the wear pads which were a breeze to remove using a knife blade to pry them up and removing them using the screwdriver. The springs were replaced one by one using strong fingers. The machine went through the spin cycle without any rocking or self-destruct noises.

Acting like it was unbalanced
I thought I would find broken springs but everything looked good. Comments and video very helpful.I figured springs must be stretched or worn out ,so for the money I figured worth a try. Insallation went well, washingmachine runs like a new machine. Much better than spending money on a new one. Thanks

tub shacking back and forth
After seeing video it was easy . Took everything apart tub, basket, replaced all springs. Tub wear pads. It took longer because I cleaned eveything, took my time. There was a lot of deposits on tub and outer tub also some rust . Put it all back together all nice and clean . pluged it in put it in spin cycle and the motor just hummed. I than check to see if somethig was stuck no .Pulled motor tested it with out a load and did not work. Motor start winding went. Motor died. 2n one in 7 years. So I fixed that proplem I am a new owner of a Speed Queen washer and dryer .

Washing machine shook violently while on spin cycle
Disconnected the bracket screws that held the suspension springs in place - fed new springs into bracket and reattached. Local repairman told me that springs dont wear out, they break - wrong, they do lose their tension and thereby lose the ability to counterbalance the spinning load. Washing machine now spins like new - no wobble or shake.

machine was out of balance
Removed the washing machine from the wall and found a broken spring on the floor. Began disassembling the unit before accessing your sight. (Later I viewed your video of the more simple dis assembly).Used your parts breakdown to identify the 6 parts I needed (3 springs and 3 retainers),and ordered them. They arrived on time and as per the video, installed them with ease and reassembled the unit. My wife is very happy. Thank you, Rusty

washer moving 3 ft during the spin cycle sounding like elephants running through the house
Removed back panel to remove tub from shell. Unscrewed the brackets holding the springs. Used screw driver to pop out pads with hammer onto screw driver. Cleaned out tub and put grease on springs where they attach to bracket. Replaced panel and ran machine to find a leak. Took machine apart again to find the knocking of the tub against the back panel caused a whole in the plastic tub. Silicon and mechanical tape. Washer works fine for now.

Tub did not center and seal was hanging out of tub
Laid washer on front side and removed top spring, then lifted the tub assembly to replace the right side spring, the one behind the motor was the hardest, I lifted the tub then removed the spring bracket at the tub with pliers and a socket. The top seal all I had to do was take the 4 screws that hold the top on (it takes a long extension) then sit it bak up and I lifted the top up to give me enough room to unsnap the top piece of the tub, cleaned it up put seal in. The parts fit perfitlt and real fast shipping, I bookmarked the site and will buy from again. JIM

Are there 2 tub springs? Are there three suspension springs? On the back i cannot see where it should go. The pictures and videos don't show it. I'm pretty sure there should be a back on, as i found the spring on the floor. But i do not know where to connect it .... there is no little thingy to put in the rectangular hole that the other ones have so i don't know where it goes or what the thingy is called to purchase one... i've bought 3 of the springs from you.. really need to fix it right away,,, i have it all apart. could send a picture if that would help. anxious to hear from you. thanks.

We moved our washer to a drawer stand under it. It started being very off balance in spin cycle. We leveled it all before using. Now the door won't lock to start machine. Also it didn't finish washing stopped after the 1st spin cycle so i shut it off.
For model number NFW7200TW
PartSelect logo
Hello Crystal, thank you for your question. If the unit is leveled properly, and the door is not locking it sounds like the lock mechanism may need to be replaced. The part number is PartSelect Number PS11745016. You can also test the part before replacing. You will want to test the Door lock solenoid from pins 2 to 3 and 3 to 1 and should read 60 ohms on either of them. Then you will want to test the switches. From pin 5 to 4 with the door locked should read 0 ohms as well as pins 2 to 1. I hope this helps!

The springs in our washer have gone out twice now in the last 6 months??? what would cause this?
For model number MAV7600AWW

Hi Tim, Thank you for your question. There could be a number of causes unfortunately. Most of the time it might be because of excessively heavy loads or unbalanced loads. Other times it could just be because of a fault springs. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

This washer is very noisy during the spin cycle. What could cause this? Thanks!
For model number LSR8133HQ0
PartSelect logo
Hello Alynda, thank you for inquiring! Most often when the washer is noisy, it is most likely the result of a part between the tub and the motor being worn or faulty. We would recommend checking the following parts: the motor (Part Number: PS11743427), the motor coupling (Part Number: PS1485646), the gear case (Part Number: PS341974), the clutch assembly (Part Number: PS334641), and the basket direct drive kit (Part Number: PS11723156). We hope this helps!
