Refrigerator door weatherstripping torn
Removed all screws on the door that retained weatherstripping, removed weatherstripping and inside of door. Inserted new weatherstripping, lined up inside of door and loosely re-installed screws. After minor alignment adjusting, went back and tightened all screws. Replacement part was a perfect fit.

Door seal worn out, needed replacement
To make instalation much easier, I removed the door and layed it on a table. I then remobved about 45 screws, removed the inner door section, removed the seal and installed new seal in reverse order being careful not to over tighten the screws. Having the door lying on the table made it much easier to place the gasket in place and make any minor adjustments. I then replaced the door and everything workes just fine.

Door Seal was falling apart
Replacing the door seal only involved unscrewing about 50 screws, attaching the new seal, & screwing all 50 screws back in. I'm glad I have a good electric screwdriver. The hard, if not impossible part, is trying to get the door to seal properly again. At first the door wouldn't close all the way, so after 2 hours of tinkering, it will close now, but the top left corner of the magnetic gasket will not seal no matter what.

Torn door gasket - cold air leaks out
The repair goes much easier if the door is removed. The door is bulky and that's the difficult part. Once its on the table, unscrew to get old one off, put new one in place and re screw. (there are many screws) Then bulky door needs to be placed back onto the refrigerator. Again difficult positioning, weight, bulky. The door comes off and goes on very easily (2 mins to get off, 10 to put back on). Just 3 lower screws. This job could have taken less than an hour if I had started with a removed door.

Replace Torn Door Gasket.
The first order of business was to find a supplier for the gasket and to make sure that the right one was ordered. This was done with out a hitch @ Part Select and at a cost less than the retail stores. The right Gasket was ordered thru Parts Select

Only difficulty was to start the install of the replacment .
Need to start at the hinged corner of the door Top & Bottom for a good fit and less hassel.

Thank you Part Select for the service.

Old seals around doors were leaking cool air.
Easy as could be. Unscrew the bolts on the inside of the seal, take off the old seal, place new seal on and screw back in. Saved myself $150 by doing it myself. So easy, my 7 year old could have done it.

Old gasket leaking
The gasket is sandwiched between the main door and the shelf assembly.

What holds them together is 42 1/4in hex head self tapping screws that run along the edge (each one is finger tight).

I would highly recommend a power drill with a 1/4 hex socket to remove the screws. It makes things much faster. Be careful when screwing the screws back in with the power drill(you only want them finger tight). If the screws are too tight, the gasket will bulge out in places.

At first the seal may feel weak. Keep the door closed for a couple of hours and the seal should improve.

Cracked Gasket
No need to repeat the other directions, everyone is spot on with exactly what to do, the ONLY thing I want to add is that prior to putting the new gasket on, throw it into the dryer for a few minutes to make it more pliable..... My problem was that it didn't seat very well, be patient, after 2 days and keeping pressure on it over night, it was a perfect fit !

Old seal was pulling apart, door wouldn't seal tight.
Having 2 people makes the job a snap. On our model the freezer door had to be partially removed so the other door can be lifted off, then slightly tighten freezer door in place. Lay door flat and remove the 36 screws & gasket making sure the new gasket slots are tucked under to match up with screw holes. We started all the screws & came back and tightened firmly. Loosen the freezer door and set the bottom door back in place, make sure doors clear each other and tighten down. Finished! I took the advice of another post and put gasket in clothes dryer for about 5 minutes, helps a bunch. Start to finish,30 minutes. Taking food out of door & replacing.

Put the new gasket on but now the door doesn't even shut completely. Am i missing something ? Gasket seemed to go on seamlessly , door just doesn't shut or remain shut ... as if the magnet is not strong enough. Any thoughts / suggestions ?

Knats keep getting side of both freezer and fresh food compartment. Fresh food compartment seal is about 3 years old. Freezer seal came with unit in 2000. Question is why and how are these bugs getting in the unit? Preparing to get new seals, but they are not cheap. Thanks for any advice.

Hello Miller, thank you for writing. Gnats, or fruit flies, are drawn to fruit, plants and standing water. They have likely laid eggs somewhere inside of your refrigerator. Unplug the refrigerator and remove any drain traps and covers from inside of it and allow it to sit to dry out. After it dries out, spray the entire fridge with a spray cleaner that has bleach. Cover with tape any holes you discover inside the refrigerator that look like good possibilities for the flies to be breeding. Let the refrigerator sit for a day, then clean it with soap and water and plug it back in. I hope this helps!
