washer would'nt cycle
remove two screws that hold down top piece that holds timer. [screws are at each end] pull the top peice foward[ toward front of washer] just about 1 inch,then flip it up so you can see back of timer,pull out black tab that holds timer knob [with the tweesers],remove knob and dial unplug the wiring remove the screw under timer knob raise clip on the side of timer so it will slide toward left side remove timer. reverse instructions to install. PS VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!MAKE SURE TO UNPLUG WASHER FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pulled washer out. Removed two top panel screws. Removed panel and removed timer. Reinstalled in reverse order.

bad timer and top half of agitator not working
Watched how to video and couldnt have been easier. Both repairs made in less than hour. Also doing work myself saved me a "load" of money by not having to call repair man.
Two fold: agitator slipping, Washer delays spin cycle untill lid is raised and dropped.
First repair was easy, remove center bolt, pull up on agitator and replace entire unit as one piece, replace bolt and liquid dispenser.
Second repair was more difficult in that I could not immediately find the release to remove timer control. After removing 5 screws unnecessaryily and studying unit more closely, tried prying up on little tab that has a "+" symbol on it that locks into a little hole. While holding up on that tab, slide timer unit sideways and unit falls out of washer panel. Simply slide the new unit in and it locks in place.
Also the directions to remove the knob were convienently printed on the orginal and replacement timer, but an ARROW pointing to the black tab on rear of the timer control would be helpful as I mistook the tab to be on the front side under the knob from studing the replacement and tried to pull the smaller inter knob off in order to push it in to release the larger outside knob portion in order to disconnect the timer. No harm done, eventually figured it out, but it still didn't fix the problem. As the washer will EVENTUALLY go in the spin cycle without picking up and dropping the lid, I'm assuming the lid switch is defective, although it appears to work otherwise. Any other possible soulutions appreciated.
First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires...)

Washer Would Not Agitate On Normal Setting But Worked Fine In Other Settings
Removed control knobs from front (small ones pull off leave large one in place for now). Remove 2 screws from back and remove 2 nutdrivers screws from back and lift top up. Remove large knob instructions on timer. Remove wiring plug and 2 screws from under the knob. Put new timer in place attach with screws. Plug wiring into timer. Re install the back with 4 screws. Once top in place re install the small knobs. Job complete.

would not do a thing, timer made sad noise
I took the top off with the two screws that were hidden in the back, then it was a breeze, replaced the timer and it still did not operate, she had also broke the lid switch trying to made it work. I was inpressed that she wanted to do the wash so bad. thanks for having the parts in stock.......

Washer would not agitate after filling the tank, had a humming sound, and a smell like burnt electronic component.
First, i checked to see if the motor was bad. I moved the selector switch to spin, to see if it would drain the tub. After a couple minutes, it not only drained, but the motor started the spin cycle....motor not bad. Tilted the washer forward and saw 2 screws to remove the control cover. Instructions to remove the timer was on the back. Smelled the timer and same odor. Ordered new part and reverse assembly. Set to light wash load and let it cycle. OK !!

Timer had issues and stopped at a certain point and would not advance/continue.
Remove and replace the timer. A little bit of patients helps to figure out removing the top panel, after that it is a relatively simple replacement.

Washer fills, and agitates but will not spin or empty. The switch makes a heavy buzzing noise. Could it have a bad switch?

Thank you for your question. If the washer is not draining or spinning, the issue is likely the lid switch and you will need to replace it. You will need to test the switch with a multi-meter to verify if it is working correctly. Set your multi-meter to the Rx1 setting, touch the probes to the terminals, and press and hold the switch button down. The multi-meter should show a reading of zero or nearly zero. Timer stops after agitation cycle. Does that definitely mean the timer is bad, or could it be something else?

Hi Bill,
Thank you for your question. If you mean that your appliance will pump water but will not go into the spin cycle, there are a couple of parts that could cause that issue. I would suggest taking a look at your clutch, your direct driver motor coupling, and your driver block for any wear on the parts. Electrically I would first suggest testing your door switch. If the appliance things that the door is open it will not go into the spin cycle. I hope this gives you a starting point. Good luck with your repair.

My washer will not fill with water and goes straight to the agitation cycle or when it does fill, it overflows. Will the timer switch solve the problem?

Thank you for your question. I would suggest first checking your water pressure switch and your hose. If both of those parts are fine, you should check your water inlet valve next. Those parts would be the most common parts to cause this issue. Good luck with your repair.

I was looking at the timer control module part and instructions ps11742046 / wp3951702 and was trying to verify this is the correct part. I watched the video , opened the control panel but could not find a black shaft to remove from the timer to get the knob off. Even when the knob is pressed down all the way, i did notice at least the surface part of the knob pops off when pulled, leaving a springy split piece of plastic that latches onto the knob and heads into the module. Not sure if this is a different part, based on that? Thanks, jason

My washer stops mid cycle and will sit full of water unless i press down on the lid. I changed the lid switch and the timer motor. Still getting the same results. Any suggestions?

Hello Brendan, Thank you for your inquiry. I would check the lid strike to make sure it's not cracked and the wiring going from the switch to the electronic control board. The other parts you can check are the water inlet valve, the direct drive motor coupling, the clutch assembly, the gear case, the drive motor and the electronic control board. You can test the parts with a multimeter. If you are unfamiliar with how a multimeter functions, there are YouTube videos available to assist you. Hope this helps!

My washer will wash and fill. When it gets to rinse it fills, the timer keeps clicking, and after a while it starts spinning while draining. But it will not agitate on rinse. It goes through a normal spin cycle. This happens in any mode. Does this sound like a timer issue?

Hi Steve, thank you for your question. It could be, however I would also suggest checking the parts of your agitator. It could be that the agitator cogs or other internal parts. Hi my washer washes spin and rinse but will not spin and drain at final cycle to complete wash, but if I turn the knob back to spin cycle it then spin, I change the drain pump and same issue. Not spinning at final cycle. Can this be timer issue?

My agitator only spins in one direction which causes clothes to become tangled. It also will not progress to spin cycle on its own. It will spin if I manually turn the knob to that setting. I have already replaced all agitator parts. Is this a timer control problem?

We have researched your model and found that the directional issue is due to the malfunctioning of the agitator directional cogs, part number PS388034, and the clutch assembly, part number PS334641. If these do not fix the issue, you need to replace the drive motor, part number PS11743427. Also, you need to change the washer control timer, part number PS11742046, to fix the cycle problem.
